I have clothes laying all over my bedroom. I keep putting off putting them away because I know it will take me a long time and I get bored when I do it. Any ideas of how I can clean them up and not be bored?
I also have things laying all over my room with no place to go.
I need a way to keep everything organized and easy to find. Any ideas of how I can do this without having to buy anything (eg. storage units)?

P.S. I tried listening to music and all the normal stuff for putting away clothes.

Clean with a friend. Besides seasonal things, if you haven't worn it in a year you will never wear it. Have a yard sale. This will give you an incentive the clean. Money is always a good incentive. Throw out all the junk laying around your room. If you use it you might just have to invest in storage. Tupperware bins and things like that. They are inexpensive and will help you organize.

Make it a game. It doesn't have to be done all at once. Set a goal for each day and if you reach that goal, treat yourself with some thing like an ice cream cone. Just something small. When it is completed, make it a bigger treat. Then do the same thing with keeping it clean. Clean out your drawers and get rid of the things that you no longer wear or use. Then label all the drawers so you know where things are. If you need more drawers, use a bookcase from a yard sale and paint it funky. Innovation is always a winner.

This sounds exactly like me. The first thing you need is a lot of will-power. It's hard to do something you can put off until tomorrow! Start out with the idea that one day a week you are going to work on doing clothes. Wake up, and pick one type of thing to put away (like socks). Then go around your room, find an armfull of socks, and put them where they belong. Then, if you feel up to it, pick another thing and gather an armfull of that. Do a couple of these, then go about with what else needs to be done. The next time you go into your room, try to pick up another handfull of something. By the end of the day you've split the big job into smaller sections, and most, if not all, of the work is done! This worked for me, and I've even gotten into the habbit of cleaning other things up and organizing.

As far as organizing goes, I have a dresser that I keep most of my "at home" clothes in, as well as socks and underwear. I have a place for each type of clothing. My work clothes are kept in my closet. I keep winter clothes on one side, summer clothes on the other. My pants/dresses/skirts are on another row. I try to keep similar colors together, so that I can find what I'm looking for easily (if I'm looking for a green shirt to go with my pants I just have to look for the green in my closet and I've narrowed down the shirts to look for before I find the right one). For washing, I bought some hampers from IKEA that are pretty cheap and I can sort my clothes out easy and get them ready for the wash.

I agree with Missliss. Just to a little bit each day until you start getting bored.

Do a little everyday and set aside 15 mins just to clean, because once its organized all you have to do is maintain it.
