This doctor was recommended to me by a friend... I have been seeing him since i was about 9 weeks or so... I am now 28 weeks 4 days and up until yesterday I had a very unpleasant experience with him... He was very preferencial towards patients his ethnic background... I'm not racist... I love all people... I just really felt that he was so much more patient with them than with me... The majority of his patients are of his ethnic background... This had been my 4th ultrasound trying to determine the sex of the baby and everytime he tries he's just very impatient with me... He doesn't even tell me how much my baby is measuring or anything of the sort... He said it was "unclear" and I asked why... If the baby was too small or if the baby was not positioned correctly... He said "Cause you're fat" I was in shock... I asked when it would be clear and he said "When you lose fat" and he laughed... He made me cry!!! I guess my ? is... Is it too late to switch doctor's???

Forgot to mention that I was the second person at the office after they came back from lunch and I was on time to my appointment... I counted the females that got there after me and were seen before me... A total of 5... The nurses are wonderful... It was just the doctor yesterday... and all that important info he doesn't give me as to how the baby is doing... I am a first time mommy and I just don't think I'm being treated fairly???

I'm not too much overweight... I am a little chunky but have been losing weight with the pregnancy... It's all belly... I get comments all the time on how thin my face looks... He's just a jerk I guess and I will report him... I decided to have a 3D done to find out the sex... Thank you for all of your comments and suggestions... You really do make me feel better... :o)

No. I would switch doctor's now. My doctor is wonderful. I am overweight and pregnant with my second. She delivered my first. She was always professional when it came to discussing my weight and this time she said I was doing great since I have lost 6 pounds by eating right. She would never call me "fat." My heart goes out to you. My doctor is a different ethnicity than me and that has never been an issue so don't let that be a factor when picking a new doctor. You can have your medical records sent over to your new doctor and if you want to be nice you can say you found a doctor closer to where you live or you can even report your old doctor to the medical board for treating you like this. Good luck!

It's never too late to switch. I just switched last week and I'm now 27 weeks along! My old doctor stopped doing deliveries, so she referred all patients to different doctors after a certain amount of time. Last week I saw a brand new doctor. All you have to do is get your charts switched over to the new doctor so they know what's been going on with the pregnancy thus far. That's it. You NEED to switch doctors because I don't think I'd want to skin my legs open for that pig and let him deliver my baby after him saying something like that! Get another doctor. If you have insurance. You can just go to your insurance carrier's website and look for a doctor by zip code and they'll all pop up.

It's not too late! You should have a doctor you are comfortable with. He seems things most people won't! Having a baby is a major event and you want to be comfortable and have a happy experience. Being in comfortable with your doctor would be horrible! You should also look into reporting him to the licensing board in your state. He was WAY out of line to make comments like that. Good luck!

You definately need to switch doctors. How insensitive and unprofessional of him to call you fat! That's the last thing you need to worry about at this time, (I gained 28 kgs with my first pregnancy and lost it all afterwards so don't worry).

You need to find a doctor that makes you feel comfortable and supported during what can be a very emotional and unsettling time. You shouldn't have to put up with that sort of crap.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and the birth :o)

If you're uncomfortable with your doctor, you should look into switching. Some doctors won't see you for the first time if you're too far along, so call a few practices and ask what their policies are on that.
Pregnancy can be a very emotional time. It's very important that you have a respectful, and trusting, relationship with your caregiver.

Good luck.

That is so horrible to hear. No one should be treated like that, especially a pregnant person. I had a friend who was 37 or 38 weeks along (we are in the military) and she had a tour of the hospital that we had to give birth at, and I guess she just wasn't impressed with it. She ended up changing doctors, and getting a mid-wife to have her baby at home. So, no, I don't believe it's too late to change doctors. Your pregnant and need to do whats best for the baby, and that is to be happy.

What a jerk. Go ahead Honey and switch doctors. It's never too late. You need to be comfortable with the doctor that is suppose to taking care of you and your baby. Don't shed any more tears over this sh&*head. Smile and Good Luck with your new doc and your little baby when he/she arrives.

I'm not overweight, i was very slim pre pregnancy & i had been gaining a normal amount of weight everymonth (i'm 7) but thismonth i gained more than i should've.. So during the ultrasound, just yesterday too!, my dr was telling me where the face was but i said i didn't understand & then he laughed & said ''well i think we know why'' while poking my belly & then said ''don't make me insult you'' What an as$.. However i don't have insurance so i signed a contract &paid him already so i don't think i can change drs unless i'm willing to pay for another one (i'm not) so i'll just have to suck it up.. & watch my eating this month.. Anyways i just wanted to say i understand how you feel!! & good luck with the new dr =]

God Bless

Mutherfu....... I cannot believe that. You poor thing, sweetie I'm so sorry about your experience. Yes definitely get a new doc and report this one immediately. I believe you can also make a report with your insurance company.

I'm 28 weeks too and was able to see my baby's sex at 20 weeks or so, so there should have been no problem seeing yours.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and try not to stress too much about this, remember baby feels everything..
