Quote the prophetic Pogo from years past ; "We have met the enemy, and he is us".

Political correctness has long since gone too far. It's the same idea that they have to censor the Bugs Bunny cartoons, because they are too violent.

Think of the name, "Sesame Street." It's a street, not some magical fairy land where everything is perfect. I think it's better to let children have a little taste of the real world, sometimes. Maybe it will help them appreciate what they've got.

I'll tell you how far it's gone in my office. I work for the state. Everyday I send out an attendance email with a joke or some useful information. Everyone seems to like it. But last Friday I sent out an email (I even posted it here with bad reception) about supporting our troops by wearing blue every Friday until they all come home. There was a complaint so I am not allowed to include the fun stuff anymore. My supervisor also notified me that we are no longer to refer to out Christmas party as a Christmas party anymore. There was another complaint. So next year it will be called the Holiday party or Winter party or just plain safety meeting.

That Santa Clause BS in Australia is really stupid. Santa has always been fat and jolly. Why does he have to loose weight and go around laughing Ha ha ha?

What is going on? Pretty soon we will become a communist country not allowed to express ourselves. Are we going to rewrite the Constitution next, or are we in the process of doing just that?!!! I want to call things what they are. If the minority can't handle it, they need to learn how to deal with it, for Pete's sake.

Oh, that was a good vent for me. Was it good for you?

I read that earlier and couldn't believe what it said. I grew up watching Sesame Street and it never did me any harm. My parents even let me watch Song of the South. PC has gone just too far.

My niece grew up with those first episodes of S.S and she lived through it. I didn't realize all the dangers we subjected her too. Thank evens she did not get diabetes from watching Cookie eat all those cookies, not depressed from Oscar even though he was her favorite, and not homophobic from Bert and Ernie. I guess we were one of the lucky ones.
Sorry, i couldn't resist. I do think thinks are going too far the other way, I hope it starts soon to go back. I never thought i'd miss the good ol' days.

That is ridiculous. My kids grew up with Sesame Street and there is nothing on there that I would not let my grands watch today.

This is one area where I badly miss the good old days before the speech police appointed themselves guardian of my mouth. I think there's a lot of good to be said in telling it like it is. I do not need some fool standing by to censor my feelings.

What the heck is happening? You can't pray in schools, call Christmas by Christmas or imitate Santa Claus saying "ho, ho, ho". And, now Sesame Street!!!! What will be next? And, we thought those were the good ol days!

Did not check out your link, but I do know PC has gotten totally out of hand. A bunch of Loonie Tune, Snobs.!!!
Do not mess with my Cookie Monster, Count, Big Bird ,Oscar, Elmo, Bert & Ernie or any of the rest of them. I grew up with them and my Grandchild loves them. Who appointed them the PC Police. Enough already. It has gotten so old that's it's not even funny anymore.

Lady G is absolutely correct, but she doesn't seem to realize that this is the point. This country gives the minority a voice so that the majority can't run roughshod over the minority. (So now the minority, with a lot of help from the ACLU, is running roughshod over the majority. Some of it is freaking ridiculous.)

Yes it has gone way out over the top and personally I am getting tired of all this PC stuff. It seems some people are just hunting and digging to find anything they can *pronounce* Politically incorrect.
