The only way my daughter would nap for more than 20 minutes at that age was if I carried her in the sling. I found that a wrap-type sling was best for comfort and ease of movement.

It rather relies upon on the baby. I have been given fortunate with my son, and while he replaced into that age, he did take 2 2 hour naps an afternoon. 10:30 to twelve:30 and a pair of:30 to 4:30. some sleep greater, some sleep much less. yet IMO, an hour to an hour and a 0.5 would be seen a powerful nap at that age, particularly because of the fact countless little ones around 8 months commence giving up a sleep, and happening to purely one. Your daughter is merely superb. as long as she would not get rather fussy, she's snoozing lots.

usually around that age they start to only need 1 nap during the day. I wait a little longer to put my son down and then he takes a 2 hour nap. Then by the time bedtime comes he's more than ready to go to bed but he sleeps good.

She's definately too young for just one nap a day, but maybe try pushing the morning one back about a 1/2 an hour and see if she will nap a little longer...
good luck!

As a child grows, their need for a nap lessens. Try giving the baby only one nap in a day. Unfortunately, she is going to start sleeping less and less and less. The only thing you can do is learn to get done the things you need to get done with the baby along side of you. I had two, 17 months apart. It took a few days, but I figured out how to get my work done, too.

Baby's grow out of taking longer naps. You may need to consolodate them into one long nap.
Unfortunately they need less sleep as they get older. The question is why can't you leave the baby down and do the things you need to do? Don't you have a swing, pack n play, or bouncey seat?

She needs to sleep two hours and take two naps! Although it is really hard to let you r baby cry, you might have to let her cry! I have a 12 month old and hearing her cry breaks my heart, but having her take a longer nap will force her to be less fussy and let you get things done ! I couldn't imagine not getting anything done ! Try rubbing her legs and arms with lotion before you lay her down to soothe her and calm her down ! Holding her for ten minutes and singing a song might calm her down and get a longer Nap out of her ! Good luck ! I hope she starts taking longer naps !

It may just be a short phase she is going through; she could be having a growth spurt or something.
I know an 8 month old can't be too physical, but make sure she gets enough exercise (letting her sit and move around on the floor on her own) instead of being carried a lot or put in a chair or swing.

My son sleeps better and longer if I let him fall asleep on his own and don't try to force him to go to sleep because I think he needs to. When he starts acting tired, I put him in his play yard and turn down the lights. I keep quiet and before I know it he has fallen asleep. If I try to rock him he just wakes up when I put him down.
