squirting them with water doesnt work either. whenever someone is in the shower or in the tub they come in and play in the water. and if u leave the lid up on the toilet they play in there too. i have very strange cats

put aluminum foil around the tree and on the lower branches. The feeling and sound of it when they walk on it creeps them out. Citrus didn't work for my cat eaither he started chewing on the orange peels. lol.

Put the tree up without decorations for a few days. Get a large squirt gun with a really good stream. Put cold water in the squirt gun. Every time you catch the cats in the tree, hit them with the water.

Doesn't take long before they associate the tree with a burst of cold water in the face and you can then decorate your tree.

We put our tree up on an end table...it's only just slightly higher, but the cats seem to avoid it. We have 3 in the house and don't have a problem.

I was thinking about putting it on a table because we have high ceilings. Our old cat wanted nothing to do with the Christmas tree, but I think the new kitten will go crazy if we don't do something.

Put it up without ornaments for a few days. My cats usually stay out of the tree falling out of it when they knock it down a few times

Why are you putting fruit in a Christmas tree? Thats very odd, but I digress. I have tried, cinnamon, mothball, Kitty no spray to keep my cats out of things, it works on one cat, the other one could care less!!

If your cats prove impervious to repellants, all you can do is keep them out of the room but thats usually hard to do as most living rooms dont have doors.

i know it sounds goofy but, cat's dislike mulch. the same kind you put around landscaping. maybe by spreading some around the bottom of the tree, it will deter tham. put some plastic or a sheet under it to keep it in check.
