Lol I saw sesame Street ages ago, there was no problem with it to me,I think it's better than quite a few shows aimed at toddlers now. It's like Santa not being allowed to say 'Ho,Ho,Ho' lol.

The article reports that the first episodes are no longer considered toddler-friendly, not the current iterations.

That said, I think it's somewhat ridiculous -- I say "somewhat" because it's true that the older episodes contain images that we probably don't want to shove in our children's faces, and also images that parents need to correct, such as the scene (mentioned in the article) wherein an unknown adult male takes a little girl to his house ostensibly for milk and cookies. Nowadays, that's just not an image to present to kids. Regardless, to say that kids shouldn't see those episodes sounds severe, but I can't be too critical because, let's face it, the last time *I* saw those episodes was so many years ago, I can hardly profess to remember them sufficiently to say "yay" or "nay."

Overall: Was the original Snuffleupagus invisibility thing more fun than the current iteration? Yeah, but it did arguably give a lousy message to children. Is Cookie more fun when he only eats cookies and doesn't touch his veggies? Probably, but that's another lesson better off not learned. And since waaaaaaaaaaay too many parents let kids watch...and watch...and watch...and watch TV, without parental filtering or involvement, goodness knows we can't rely on parents or other caregivers to "interpret" or correct those images for their children.

Are my kids going to see the older episodes? You bet. In fact, I look specifically for older episodes now that I've started to Tivonate them (though there's nothing *that* old running on the TV daily or anything). Sure, they're going to see the older episodes. And as a parent, I'll also encourage them to eat vegetables, teach them about strangers and so forth, encourage them to talk to me and assure them I will believe them. For that matter, if they ask about Ernie and Bert, I'll let them know that closets are for clothes.

Damn Liberals. I show my 2 & 1 year old the Old School in the car, and there is nothing wrong with that. Kids need to learn that they don't always win and that the world is not always shinny and perfect. I am sick of the picture that all the kid’s shows paint of the world. And best part of the Old School.... NO ELMO!

They take things to literal now. Back then, people didn't see things that way. It was view as good ol educational fun. Now they take everything so serious and make things worse than what it is. It's was puppet show! How did the cookie monster get diabetes, that's ridiculous!

I just saw something on that, i grew up watching sesame street and i turned out fine, it just really gets on my nerves when people dig that deep into TV shows and come to the conclusions that they come up with, I mean come on, loosen up and leave it alone.

I think three other people already asked this question, myself included. I guess we're all outraged which makes you wonder what they're basing this decision on since everyone seems to think this is ridiculous.
