Seems to me that it came as colse as it should, they both led the league in categories but at the end of the day Rollins led his team to a division title and Holliday got the Wild Card, I think that was the difference for quite a few of the voters...I would have been satisfied with either one winning it. The other difference is position, a SS with those numbers hass a harder time than an OF with big numbers....in Colorado; although Philly is not really a pitcher friendly park either!

Rollins controlled to get the gang to the playoffs even regardless of the indisputable fact that the two Utley and Howard have been out on with injuries. comparable for a number of our key pitchers. His helping gamers may well be above basic, yet that doesn't help whilst they're sitting on the bench. The Phils had harm after harm whilst the Rockies stayed surprisingly healthful. Plus, i think of they have some ace pitchers, whilst one in each and every of our suitable is over 40!! And Rollins is a extra advantageous shielding participant than Holliday. did no longer Holliday permit a ball bypass over his head in one play-off interest?? He gave the effect of a splash leaguer on that one!

rollins had golden glove calliber defense
he had offense that fired up the crowd
it also fired up the team and coaches
he joined the 20-20-20-20 club
he carried the phillies to PS
the rockies are a more solid team
that hurts the chance of having an MVP
jroll played in EVERY game and the phillies had a lot of trouble with injuries and pitching this year
he made a statement that the phillies were the team to beat, and made every effort to carry it out, and he did
he was only a HAIR behind holliday in the categories in which he led.
he had more of a personality and spirit for the team
he deserved it
go rollins!

How could you not consider Rollins - played every game, was the first player in history to collect at least 200 hits, 25 homers, 15 triples and 25 steals in a season., his 139 runs scored and 88 extra-base hits were league records for a shortstop, his 716 at-bats is also a league record, he was third shortstop in MLB history to have 30 steals and 30 homers and won a gold glove. These are beyond league leading numbers - these are records.

It should have been this close - the whole season was this close. . . It's great for baseball that teams and players are this competitive and evenly ranked. Hopefully this continues in the future seasons.

more and more it seems that value is more determined by stats rather than 'what was the impact of this person on this team'

I just think with 3 offensive players like Utley, Howard and Rollins, without any of them, the Phillies wouldn't have been the same team, so how is one more valuable than the other.

In Colorado, it was pretty all Holliday.

Holliday led the league in 7 offensive categories, Rollins led in 4, they both had great years. I think Holliday deserved it over J-Roll but congrats to him, he had a helluva season!

How did Matt Holliday lead the NL in almost every major hitting category and NOT win the NL MVP award?!

The voting was FIXED!!!!! JUST LIKE THE ELECTION FROM 2004!

Rollins is way better than holliday. maybe people who think holliday is better should start watching the phillies games instead.
