i was wondering casue i have to do a project.i REALLYYY need to know.

He took his anti-drug and booze stance pretty seriously. I can't imagine he was a drug user from that.

Does make me wonder if he HAD done drugs in the past and did a 360 as a result.

Sun Ra was very anti-drug, however, I once met a guy who played bass with the Arkestra for about 6 months, and he said that many members (at that time anyway, early 80s, I think) were crackheads and junkies and that he had to padlock his bass to prevent member of the band from stealing it to pawn. Space is the place.

I think he demanded that his band members stay clean and sober. If he had a history of abuse, he kept it well hidden. Sun RA was primarily a keyboard player and band leader, not a singer.
