I have a bit of a debate going on and I'd really appreciate it if someone could clarify this little argument. Thanks!

He is suspended indefinitely. He missed this season, and will be in jail for next season and then face the NFL which will likely punish him for dog fighting and violating the league's substance abuse policy because he was caught smoking marijuana. He is suspended, but will likely never play in the NFL again. No one will want him.

I don't know if he's going to be kept from playing but I know I think he SHOULD be banned.
People often say that there are other people in the NFL or the NBA who have done things like selling drugs or DUI and they are not banned. What people fail to see is the blatant, malicious cruelty of what Mike Vick has done. Anybody who kills animals like that (not to mention pitting the ones he didn't kill against each other in horribly gruesome fights often to the death just for money and the fun of watching it) has got something fundamentally wrong with them. In fact, the justice system is FINALLY starting to recognize what the psychiatric/mental health world has known for a long time: that animal cruelty and a disregard or pleasure in the suffering of living things is a symptom of a serious disturbance and often a precursor of crimes against people. A person like that should not be allowed to be in a position such as what Mike Vick has attained.
I vote he never gets paid to touch a football again.

I don't think he's officially banned from the organization. But only because the NFL doesn't have to. Each team is a different company. And no company would want someone like him working for them. The NFL knows they don't have to touch the already sensitive topic of banning him because they know in the event he does return, no one will want him to play for them.

He should have been banned but he has enough money to get out early then to go back and playing. I know I will be fighting afterhe gets out cause I dont think he should ever play again. Plus he just went to jail the other day to make him look even better. He has made it bad for the ones that want pits and raise them properly.

He is suspended indefinately pending his sentencing. Afterward, the NFL will hand down their formal punishment, however because of the negative publicity, he'll be lucky if he ever plays again, even in the canadian football league.

Hes only technically suspended, but many think he wont play again, based on the severity of the charges/ time of the sentence.

People dont know. NFL already said they are not bringing him back. By time he is out of prison he will be out of shape and no one will want him. Plus no team will want to hear the scrutiny from him

He will never play football ever again. Any Pro team that hires him will face such a huge public backlash that it simply is not worth it for them.

That hasn't been determined yet. He most likely will be suspended for a year.
