Henry VIII rose to power since he was the king of England. He inherited the throne. That's the easy part.
He became so important since he broke the nation of England away from the Roman Catholic Church. He did it for his own desires, but at the same time made a major first step.
He is most famous for the way he went through wives. He had a number of them in his attempt to have a son to take his throne. He did everything he could to have a son (blaming all the daughters and miscarriages on his wives) and eventually had one. His son only lived to have a brief reign.
Henry VIII's impact on history was huge because of the break from the Catholic Church. England eventually stood out from the rest of Europe and fought a number of the wars that made it great, in large part, due to its separation from the church that ran life in Europe.

Then as now various leaders were jockeying for power. Arguably Henry the 8th & England were/was usually the weakest of the four major powers - - - Whilst alive King Ferdinand but most especially Queen Isabella were the biggest power, bearing in mind they held Spain as well as what is now Belgium and The Netherlands. France first under Louis the 14th (I may be off an teenth) and then Francois was in second place. The Not So Holy Roman Empire was large in Area, weak in Power, whilst under Maximilian but when his Grandson Charles took over, well then The Holy Roman Empire was eventually joined with the Spanish Empire and thus became a true super power. Henry The 8th or arguably his ministers were adept politically and when they could pit France against Spain and/or The Holy Roman Empire then England took on a power greater than her size and lack of resources might suggest. England from the time of Henry the 7th onward was always more powerful than her size and position and under Henry the 8th this became even more of a factor. Henry 8th literally threw his weight around and often made France cower, but then some would argue that is the way that France "is" whatever England's power grew under Henry and by the end of his reign, it was a showdown between Henry's England and Charles Colossus with France drifting further into weakness. Actually as for lifestyle, Henry and France were the most extravagant: Ferdinand & Isabella of Spain 'rocked' but Charles lived like a monk and his court was rather dull. Peace/////////\\\\\

Henry VIII didn't really rise to power. He got it from inheritance from his father, Henry VII, the victor of Bosworth Battle which gave him the crown of England. Henry VIII was the second son of Henry VII. When Henry VIII's older brother Arthur, the Prince of Wales, died he was heir to the throne of England.
He was very famous for his six wives. wife#1 Catherine of Aragon was also his brother's wife. #2 Anne Boleyn. #3 Jane Seymour. #4 Anne of Cleves. #5 Catherine Howard. #6 Catherine Parr. From Catherine of Aragon, his only child was the future Mary I aka Bloody Mary who grew up to be an ardent Catholic. The future Elizabeth I was his daughter by Anne Boleyn. His only son grew up to be the future King Edward VI who was his child by Jane Seymour.
He was born in 1491 and lived till 1547. He was basically reinging in the midst of the Renaissance. His most famous achievement would be establishing the Church of England that we know today with the Monarch as the Head of the Church. This was established because Pope Clement VII (was also under pressure to not annull the marriage because he was then the prisoner of Catherine of Aragon's nephew, Emperor Charles V of the Holy of Roman Empire) had refused to annull his marriage to Catherine of Aragon so he could wed Anne Boleyn.
