I was dating a guy once and spent a lot of time, money and thought into his Christmas. He knew I needed a laptop at the time for college and we talked about so one present under the tree was heavy and the exact size of laptop. Imagine my surprise when I opened it to find a set of Dominos.

On christmas eve, when we opened our gifts... I didn't have a present from my dad, I didn't say anything to him... and then in front of everyone... he said "I forgot to get you a present, here is $20.00..."

I got plastic mixing bowls for my birthday 2 years ago from my partner. When I unwrapped them I had a very forced smile on my face and said "wow, mixing bowls, you shouldn't have". And I really meant the 'you shouldn't have' part.
For Christmas a few years ago I got a pizza cutter that my friend got out of her kitchen drawer and she wrapped it in a brown paper lunch bag.
I have received some really thoughtless gifts. It makes me not want to put any creativity and thought into giving presents.

When I was 19 I got a New Kids On The Block t-shirt that was bought in the kids section at a department store.
Gotta love the gifts from Aunts.

I got a key chain.... It was horseshoe nails that were welded together to look like a cowboy.
