Greetings All,

Our cub scout leaders have agreed that the kids are bored with the classic activity Space Derby. They want something different but do not have a clue as to what.

Any fresh ideas for a pack meeting with 39 kids indoors. We have all of the other events covered (ie, pinewood, cardboard carpet races, pop rockets, skits, blue gold awards, so on.)

Thanks in advance. Again, our meetings are inside a church meeting hall with a decent amount of space... but nothing for like flying things, go carts, so on.

=)

Hello John:

Try the Raingutter Regatta. BSA has kits for small boats, other suppliers can provide as well. Kit includes boat, mast & sail, rudder and decals. BSA used to make medals for the Raingutter Regatta, but I don't know if they still exist. I have seen patches available.

Use a rigid rain gutter to make a channel on which the boats "sail." The channels sit on top of a table or use saw horses. Make sure they are level!

Search the internet with "Raingutter Regatta" and you will get quite a few hits.

Keep on Scoutin'
