Is chivalry really dead? Do you believe guys should be courteous to girls? What does "equal rights" mean to you?

I think that women should have the same rights as women and still be held on a pedestal. (That's just me.)

chivalry and equal rights are not the same thing... It is very courteous for a man to open the car door, or restaurant door for his lady. Most men still wait for the "girl" to set down first and then go around and set down themselves. Chivary is being courteous and considerate of others especially when it comes to men relating to women.* (personally i have no problem with opening the door for my man either)

I'm a romantic.... chivalry is not dead, at least I hope not. I think it's always nice to be with a gentleman.

Being courteous goes both ways..... I appreciate him being courteous to me, so I am sure to behave courteously to him. He needs to feel special too! It's not about ME, Me, Me!

Equal rights means both guys and girls need to have equal access to everything. Do I believe in this? If I answer this I know I'll anger many, so will keep my thoughts to myself.

I do not agree that women should be put on a pedestal and yet expect to be equal. Doesn't work that way. You want equal? Then you would not be on a pedestal.... it would be demeaning to all women. Right?

Chivalry is dead to me because all I see on t.v. and in real life is men praising women for being scantily dressed and talking about how big their boobs and @ss are. My boyfriend and few other guys I know are really sweet guys and sometimes do things for their girlfriends but there are many guys that don't see reason in being romantic and loving with a their woman. I do believe guys should be courteous to women as women should be courteous to men. It goes both ways. I think that being equal is not all about just putting the woman on a pedestal but treating the man right as well. To me, that's what equal rights are (treating each other in the same manner).

Chivalry is not dead.

Men should be courteous to girls and women should be the same to men. Equality.

As far as holding women on a pedestal, that is just love. If you love your girl you will be polite her and she will be the most or one of the most important things in the world to you. You will want to pamper her and love her. You will want to be romantic with her and make her smile.

I think a real gentleman will always be courteous to a lady and treat her special and a real lady will show respect to a gentleman.
Equal rights to me means doing the same job for the same pay though I think there a some jobs requiring physical strength that some women could not undertake.

I'm a very strong woman yet I don't believe in equal rights...I do not degrade my women but honestly it is so cool to not be equal to a man...I love washing his clothes, cooking for him and I wouldn't want him to do it at the same time I love him fixing my car or taking care of the garden something I don't do. I believe woman should be respect and adore yet I believe men should do the hard job...I mean behind every great man there was a awesome woman....we hold the power no matter what anybody says.

Women can't be equal to men if we're on a pedestal. That means we're better and not equal. You sorta can't have it both ways.

I don't see why women cant be chivalrous towards men as well as them doing the same back to us.

The key is politeness.

I believe the same thing! I'm a country guy so I believe in chilvary...I'm chivalrous so I know for a fact that as long as I'm alive, then chivalry is not dead...Equal rights pertains to freedom, but that doesn' mean women should be treated like men....They are the weaker vessel and should be treated that way, butshould have just as many rights as the men do

Guys should always be courteous to us. We deserve it. Equal rights means that we can do any job they can and should get the same pay as they do

NO.. Chivalry is not dead! A man should be a gentleman to a woman. I live the "OLD FASHIONED" way. But to a gentleman, You have to be a man first!!!!! Call me what you will, Call me what you may. I'm her man and I like that way.
