on a calculator you can enter log(1/216)/ log(6) because a log is always, unless marked to have a base 10. by dividing log(6) shows that the base is 6. when done so your answer would be -3. and when put in, it does check out. 6^-3=1/216

Some general properties of logarithms are

log (ab) = log a + log b
log (a/b) = log a - log b

so log (1 / 216) = log 1 - log 216

log6 is log to the base 6. To take a logarithm to any base, use the natural log of the argument divided by the natural log of the desired base.

log(6) (X) = ln (X) / ln (6)

The only thing I can get is -2.3345

log(6) (1/216)
log (6) 1 - log (6) 216
log (1) = 0 and log (216) = 2.3345

So 0 - 2.3345 = - 2.3345
