I have never been to Walt Disney World in Florida before and I'm 21 years old. I'm going with my brother (24) and my father in about 20 days from now! I was really excited.. until I told my boyfriend. He said that Disney was only directed towards kids and to not waste my time - he said to spend all our time at Universal Orlando instead.
I have always wanted to go to Disney since I was a child. Is this childish of me to go with my father and brother? Are we even going to have an enjoyable time? Thanks everyone! :)

it is based for kids with many parrades and ppl in suits walking around but woah! there are some amazingly fast and slick rides like space mountain 2 where you are in a rollercoaster and you fire up at an enourmous speed in pitch black then you go underground at a realy good speed, also there are loads of "loops" in the dark which is really cool. its a ride you must go on!

I was in my forties the first time I went and had the time of my life. The true answer to your question is Yes, you may be an adult or even a senior when you arrive, but while you are there you are a kid. So yes, Disney world is only for Kids.

I have been many times, in fact we were there on year ago this week. We are returning in March, and as soon as we get back from that trip I will begin planning a May 09 trip for my fortieth birthday. Universal is great fun and it is true it is more for the older teens. But nothing beats Disney. For great adult fun check out Down Town Disney, Board walk and River Walk. Your boyfriend will want to go next trip.;

My "kids" still love to visit Disney. My youngest will be 21 in January and my oldest is 25.

My husband and I go on our own now, and enjoy ourselves.

Your boyfriend may be a young man, but he sounds like an old curmudgeon to me (a crusty irascible cantankerous old person full of stubborn ideas). Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios are both fun too, but no less childish than the parks at Disney.

I think you will thorougly enjoy visiting Disney with your dad and brother. You can worry about being childish but it really isn't necessary. In fact, if I were you, I'd buy a pair of Minnie Mouse ears or a Princess Crown-find some of the Disney Princess Characters-and have my photo taken with the Princesses...then send it to the boyfriend. I'd also send a photo of you riding the Teacups with your brother and dad. I'd go to the Kodak "What if Labs" at Imageworks in Epcot and do a silly photo, then email it my boyfriend.

DEFINITELY NOT! Disney is for kids of all ages, they have rides and attractions for people of all ages. It's impossible to be bored there. I have read on numerous sites that ppl older than 20 years still get tears when they think of Disney! You definitely need to go, especially since you have never been before! I am 17 and have been there 3 times! Go and have a blast! Do not think about anything except for fun, you can never get tired of Disney, it's amazing

I've been going practically every other year since I was 4. I'm 18 now, and its just as much fun, if not more so. I know its not 21, but still, Disney is amazing. My sister is 24 and she still comes with me every time. I don't know why, it never gets old for us. And yeah, its not made for adults in a sense, but I guess that's part of whats so cool about it...It's basically just fun---no matter how old you are :)

While it is very family friendly, as most things Disney are, it will still be a lot of fun, depending on where you go. Universal Studios is more about the themed rides, while Disney will have a lot of other stuff. Epcot's world themed areas have some of the best resturants I have ever eaten at. Either way you will have a lot of fun.

I went for my first (and only) time 7 years ago, when I was 27. I am definitely more a fan of Universal Studios. However, I will expand on that to say that I went with my ex boyfriend and his ENTIRE psychotic family...including two boys and a bratty little girl...the trip was all about her and we only went to the Magic Kingdom. Regardless...I'm more of a roller coaster person so that was not my thing.

That being said, I don't think it's childish of you to go. Actually, they have wedding and/or honeymoon packages available. Would you say that's childish?

Disney World is for Big Kids of ALL Ages! It is about letting go and embracing everything that is wonderful and simple! Go to just have fun and be together as a family!

You can read a great blog at http://www.OrlandoFunTickets.com on how to do this!

Don't worry about your boyfriend and his opinions, they're just that. opinions. Do what you want to do and take your family along. If your Dad wants to take it a little slower, you can always do Pirates of the Carribean ride...there are a lot of slower entertainment choices there as well. I would never miss a chance to relive my childhood! Especially when you're talking about the biggest playground in the world! Disneyworld. Go, you'll regret it if you don't. Do everything there if you have time.

It is absolutely the best time and money I have spent. I am forty six and looking forward to going again. This time I have a 2 month old and a three y/o. I my have to put my rides on hold. Tell your boyfriend that they have Senior Citizen activities if he would like to go and join them. You go with your family and enjoy the lines the crowd and all your childhood dreams. Leave ole sourpuss behind and go, go, Go.
