So,what do you like to put on top of your Christmas tree?

every year my son makes a new star to put on top of the tree, he climbs the ladder and sets it just where he wants it.
he looks so proud doing it, i am sure it will be a fond memory that maybe he shares with his kids someday.

Well, My family used to put the reason for the season. We put a cross up there, made of a shiny glass material, so it will shine when the christmas light is lit up. Slight below the cross, we put a star and then the rest of decoration starts.
It's always wonderful to see the star shining above the rest, but it's really great to have the cross up there to remind us the reason for the season.

We used the same angel tree topper for the longest time (I think 18 years!) but then 2 years ago my mom wanted something a little different, so she bought a star. We use that now, but I prefer the angel. She just sits in a box now... she's much prettier than the star in my opinion, even if she is old. I'm excited for Christmas! I haven't really done any Christmassy things other than answer Christmas questions and start making a list of possible gift ideas for people, but I've got time. I can't just pick one favorite Christmas movie! :) I love "Elf", "A Christmas Story", "Christmas Carol" (1984), "Christmas Vacation", and both versions of "The Grinch". My favorite song is "Baby, it's Cold Outside". I enjoy most versions, but I really love the Lady Antebellum one.

My mother used to put an angel on top of our Christmas tree every year but I like to put a huge, decorative bow on top of mine.

Well, naturally the 'standard answer' would be a star.
But........ I think being a little different could be fun, eye catching, or even sentimental. here are some of the trees I've seen with different tree toppers.
1- photo cutouts of their twins made into a topper
2- world trade center towers topper ( such impact of our times)
3- the family dog ornament (actually a poodle ornament they
embellished and added the dogs name)
4-Santa emblem holding an american flag saying "peace
on earth"
