I read in the Moncton paper the other day that over 150 scouts were registered to attend The Monctonian tournament. Even if every major junior team and all the more ambitious NCAA programs sends a scout, it doesn't seem to add up to 150 to me. Is the paper or the tournament orgainzers just pulling the number out of the thin air, or is 150 actually a realistic number?

sorry-organizers Could it be that there are a lot of Junior A scouts at such a tourney?

There are over 300 NCAA, Tier 2 Junior A, and Tier 1Junior A teams, and many of these have more than 1 scout so I think that 150 is more than a reasonable number. There will also be several NHL scouts in attendance

The Quebec Pee-Wee tournament draws over 500 scouts a year, including NHL scouts. You need to see these kids as soon as possible. The more you see them, the better you can assess them.

Coach Scott, there are several Midget tournaments in Canada that draw more scouts than Calgary

The Midget Tournament in Richmond BC draws 80+ scouts a year

I'll be one of over 200 scouts at the NAHL Midget Showcase in Michigan in February 2008 (and that will be just 12 teams)

And, last year's Telus Cup (The Canadian Midget Championship) last April in Red Deer drew over 400 scouts from the CHL, USHL, NCAA, and NHL.

There could be Junior B scouts as well...It is possible that over the course of the tourney that there are 150 scouts of some sort in attendance. The tourney is trying to show how prestigious it is so they can attract the best teams. I would say they are estimating on the higher end though. The probably sent out information to 200 teams, NCAA, Junior A and B, Major Junior etc and they figure they will get about that many

The most highly scouted Midget AAA Tournament in the world is the Macs Midget Tournament in Calgary held over the Christmas / New Years break. There are only about 60 scouts at that one - mostly CHL and NCAA.

I think they are pulling your leg.

There can be but I think of it as unlikely.. Why would they send that many for a tournament even if it is a good tourney.. There would be less but I still think there could be alot of scouts..

If the teams in the tourny are good than that can be a realistic number
