The house I live in was built over old cottages and an old road, can I see a map of what this looked like in the dates mentioned above i.e. early 1900s

Hi you may find what you need on www.old-maps.co.uk its helped me out in the past.

As stated above your local library should have maps.

Frome as in Somerset?
Try the Somerset Record Office or Taunton Library (Local History Section).
Either will probably be able to send you photocopies of old maps and photographs of the area, at very little cost.

Go to the local chamber of commerce to find out if there is a local historic society that will allow you access to that information.

Ordnance Survey has copies of old maps for sale

I would think your local city hall of the town would have that, or even your local library.
