Hi.

I'm solving equations where I'm asked to first of all clear out any fractions or decimals, I already know how to clear out fractions, you just multiply by by the Least Common. Denominator. But how can I clear out decimals.
let's say

05x+0.3y+0.7z=10
0.2x+0.4y+0.5z= 10

in this example or in any example how can you clear out decimals?
thank you.

Decimals are also fractions with LCDs. Your decimal coeficients can all be written as common fractions: 5/10, 3/10, 7/10, and 100/10 in the first equation. So multiply each term by the LCD of 10 which changes 0.5 = 5/10 to 5. Your first equation becomes:

5x + 3y + 7z = 100

Multiply both sides of the equation by 10. This will clear out the decimals.
is that 0.5 or 05?
assume 0.5, if not it is 50x
5x+3y+7z=100
2x+4y+5z=100
By doing so, you are not changing the question or answer. Both sides are multiplied, so the solution will be the same. There is one more thing. You'll need one more equation in you want to solve for x,y, and z. But your question only asks that you clear out fractions.

DECIMALS:- SAY (THE FIRST ONE LOOKS, 0.5)
O.5X+0.3Y+0.7Y= 10
AFTER THE Decimal the position is in 1/10 position
so itwill be
5/10 x+ 3/10 y+7/10 z= 10 say value does not change if u multiply both sides by 10
now the decimal has gone!
it will be
5x + 3y +7z = 100
similarly you work out! ok?
answer will be ( next equation )
2x+4y+5z=100
ok!

Multiply the eq by 10, then the eq becomes

5x + 3y + 7z = 100 or
2x + 4y +5x = 100

if the eq is 0.04x + 0.2y + 0.01z = 4 then multiply by 100
