I am an average size guy (5'11 185) and sorry to burst the bubble of all woman here (and I guarantee there will be a few women on this board who claim to be as lethal as any guy) but no woman could do serious damage to me without a weapon. Yes, there are probably about 5% of women in this world who are physiclaly stronger than me, but I could defend myself against them without having to viciously strike back against them.

On the other hand, there are about 35% of the men in the world who could do serious damage to me if they starting physically attacking me with their fists. In such case, I would have to do evrything in my power (hitting, biting, punching, kicking) to defend myself.

So the bottom line is that a guy hiting a girl is worse than a guy hitting a guy. But woman should never ever initiate physical confrontation with a guy as it puts a guy in a no-win situation. He hits back and is a wimp for hitting a weaker woman. He does nothing and is ridiculed for being a wimp.

KJA,

No offense, but kickboxing is not going to do a lot of good in the street. Yes, I'm sure you would beat me in a kickboxing match. But I'm not talking about sports. I'm talking about a confrontation in an alley, street, etc.

Woody.

Your "politically correct" outlook is simply wrong. Yes, in a controlled sporting match, an undersized woman may be able to defeat a FEW guys. But in a street fight where strength, "propensity for violence" and "rage" are factors, no woman is going to seriously harm an average size guy. It is unheard of. However, I have been seriously harmed by a guy in such a situation.

The point is that I saw a woman initiate such a physical confrontation with a man in an alley last weekend. And fortunately the man walked away, to the teases and "cat-calls" of his buddy. But it pissed me off that the woman put him in that situation.

They were about the same size but I guarantee the woman would have been in serious trouble if fists began flying.

Could you please tell me where the question is in this rant?
Men are dimorphically larger than women. Big deal.

35%... That actually sounds like something...

seeing as how Men aged 20 to 50 would only constitute about 40 pct of the male population...

So basically you can probably fight children and teenagers 18 or younger, Elderly men 50+ and the weakest men between the ages of 20 and 50...

I wouldn't go bragging about that... nor would I go commenting that you'd bite a man in a fight... I mean you might as well start pulling hair and going for the crotch at that point... even if you win, you're going to be disgraced.

If you're going to make up random statistics, at least make up something more impressive.

On the other note; Its as bad for women to hit men. The reason being that you have two results; either a) the men is unable to retaliate due to social standards, will not hit a woman, in which case you are attacking a target unable to defend himself, except to try and parry your attacks. This is basically the reasoning for why a man should not hit a woman, is that its assumed to be an unfair match. b) the man has no such qualms and is likely going to proceed to bury the woman in retaliation unless she is within the top few percentile of women that might be able to fight a man and win.

I noticed someone comment about the classics of Eyes, Throat, Testicles, Knee Caps, Nose, Kidneys... which is all well and good, but have you ever tried to actually hit someone with far more strength and range then you in the Eyes, Testicles or Throat without catching them off guard... They are difficult targets. Kidneys, Nose and Kneecaps are somewhat easier, howeever keep in mind, those are about the only spots a woman is probably able to hit a man to take him down and short of breaking his kneecaps, will only slow him down. The man can probably hit a woman just about anywhere and drop her through far superior strength.

There are exceptions, but your average woman versus your average man, the woman hasn't got a chance.

After I read this all I can think is Sampson and Delilah.
He too had a weak spot.
So going back to your question!
In the real world there shouldn't be the need of violence against anyone, but I am only fantasizing because there is violence and the strong always take advantage of the weak ,it doesn't matter if they are men or women and it doesn't necessarily mean that the attack is physical, but abuse as many forms ,verbal abuse can diminish a man or a woman worth with no signs left on the exterior. At the end no one is a wimp but a victim.

About the only thing in there I agree with is the documentation that Joseph didn't initially want to practice polygamy and nearly came into condemnation from the Lord because of it. Emma couldn't stomach leaving her home and crossing the prairies, etc without Joseph. The rest is supposition, someone's opinion and not accepted as doctrine. In fact, if one were to try to teach that the Savior practiced polygamy - he would be pulled aside by the bishop and told to cease and desist. Bruce R McConkie felt that polygamy would recommence in the millenium - that was his opinion. Mormons do not state that polygamy makes them better or that polygamy keeps one from committing adultery. Nor do we believe that polygamous marriage allows spirits who have 'long awaited incarnation' their turn on earth. So - basically - it's a mix of several opinions and very little truth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Eyes, Throat, Testicles, Knee Caps, Nose, Kidneys... etc

There are many places on the human body that are sensitive and a well placed kick, punch, poke, knee or elbow can work wonders even if the person is small or weak. A weapon is not always necessary.

Strength and size are not the only factors.

But I do agree that a woman should be prepared to fight for her life if she physically confronts someone and particularly someone stronger than her.

Yes, in an AVERAGE match a man and woman are uneven in favor of the man. There for, a man should not hit a woman. The original reason this is a general rule is because some men randomly beating the cr*p out of their wife. A woman should not provoke a man to hit her by hitting him in the first place. Then again, no fight should be physical with a significant other.

To think that a woman couldn't do physical damage to you because of her size and strength is not a very smart outlook.

Physcially your right about men being bigger and stronger but size has not determination on whether somone can kick your butt. If a person is properly trained a small female could eaisly use one strike to kill a larger stronger man. it's all about location and force.

Underestimating your oppoent is a huge mistake.

Personally, i don't think men should hit women, women shouldn't hit men and we shouldn't be fighting at all. Period. There is no reason for any woman to hit a man. A man should have no reason to ever hit a woman. I don't care what the size difference is or what the reasons are. If a woman attacks a man I feel he has the right to defend himself in a proper manner with a proper amount of force. And vice versa. If he is bigger then her and she attacks him he could easily defend himself with minimal force. If he is bigger then her and he attacks her, she would be justified in smacking him up side his head with a frying pan.

I see men and women as equals. Gender roles are out dated.

A man should NEVER hit a woman. To the poster who says she can beat up men and does in kickboxing or whatever, trust me, they go easy on you and will never give it their all. Like when I arm wrestle my son, I put just enough force into it to make him think I am not letting him win, we do that with women too.
Women dont need to be as physically strong as men to be totally awesome. We are different and that is what makes us so great together; neither is better or worse, just different.

i don't know where your from but here if a woman hits a guy she will get it back and everyone will say she deserves it.but in most cases if there was a fight between both and it was started by the woman and the cops came the guy will more than likely be told to leave or dragged out.

"a guy should never hit a woman no matter what under any circumstances, but a girl should never hit a guy unless she has a good reason for it."

Sorry but that kind of thing doesnt apply in real life. A woman attacking and trying to harm a guy gives him the right to defend himself. This is especially if she knows how to fight and do damage.

Like Brad D said, "tough enough to hit, tough enough to get hit." And if she aint tough enough then she shouldnt be hitting someone who is.

Heres a perfect example of women writing checks with their mouth and their bodies cant cash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re9mj7ma9d4

Equal and just force, guys also should have more pain tolerance against the "weak" hits of a girl. As ridiculous of a question I think this is... If a girl is out of control and hitting you, you have a right to defend yourself, if she's smaller than you, you should be able to take a few hits and kicks as you pin her down (without beating the **** out of her). If it came down to a life or death thing, all bets are off, but if a girl lost her temper and came at me fists a blazin... I would take a few on the chin, and grab her and take her to the ground and hold her down as to keep her from hitting me any more... I wouldn't break her jaw.. :-/
