Magazines pretend to love curves..beyonce, alicia keys etc. but the minute someone loses alot of weight, they gush over how great they look. carrie underwood for example, in this weeks US weekly, they say "oh she was a size 6 on american idol, now shes a 2!" and they award her as one of the years top makeovers. Is a size 6 big?? magazines are so contradictory. I am a comfortable size 4, and i still feel so much pressure to be thinner thinner thinner. I HATE IT.

I wouldn't call size 6 big, and the media is promoting a very unhealthy lifestyle by showing women who are size 2 or less and saying that this is how girls should look. And we wonder why there is a problem with anorexia and bulimia with teens and young adults.

You should write into the magazine to complain. Tell them you have no problem with a size 6 person losing a little bit of weight, but size 2 is unbelievably ridiculous. Tell them how comfortable you are as a size 4, and that Carrie Underwood needs to get that way, too... and she would if she ate a hamburger or some cake or whatever.

oh i know. like america ferrara and jennifer hudson are also size 6's and the media talks about them as being plus size or curvier. i mean come on....i would die to be a size 6 ! i think if i had trainers and nutritionists i would be a size 2 or 6 like those celebs but the truth is that most women on average are atleast a size 12 or 14.

i hate it too.

so very true
I was watching a tyra banks talk show the other day and she was talking about eating disorders and how young girls are getting affected and how this world is so corrupt but then i was watching Americas next top model also hosted by her and she was yelling at this girl for being to fat when she was only a size ZERO like she contradicted herself so much It made me so mad

I think the media just wants you to think that it's ok to be heavy when truthfully it's not media wants thin and only thin the thinner the better

If people like you would stop buying & reading these magazines, they would change their content. But you apparently like the content and want to read & discuss it, so you're part of the answer to your own question why they do it.

well it can be good thing. Fatness leads to health problems, and as a nation we cannot afford to pay for all these fatasses who have heart problems, etc.
