I like to think that im an open minded person who never judges anyone on their race, sexuality, religion etc but sometimes i think that the "correct" words we "must" now use are a little over the top! What do you think? If you agree, tell me some of the politically correct things that drive you crazy!

Totally!!
Like when Glasgow Council shut down a burger van just because it was next to a mosque (The burger van had been there for years, the mosque was the new addition)
When the NHS (I think it was in Aberdeen) decided it was unfair for staff to get time off at Easter as it would offend Muslims, the first complaint the NHS received about this came from the local mosque who said it was madness, and also stated "try cancelling one of our religious celebrations!"
These are only 2 of many, the absurd thing is that the more the PC brigade try to make the place nicer for minorities, the only thing that happens is people who are not racially minded get frustrated and angry with the very people the PC brigade love so much, the bnp will be the only winners in the end unfortunately!

Did you ever think that a rational person could stand and tell you there is a word, yes a bad word, that can be said by a black man and not a white man? There are far worse words in my mind like ones that take the Lord's name in vain and many many others that should be offensive to everyone. But alas they have become part of our everyday vocabulary and are accepted. Shameful!

Can you think of a worse scenario? Here are two. They are real.

New Zealand now will deny you entry into their country if you are overweight.

Japan now makes ALL foreigners entering their country to be finger printed and photographed. No matter how long you plan on staying or for what reason you are there.

Terrorism is working. Basic freedoms we once took for granted are slowly going away.

What next?

I don't worry about "politically correct" language. If people are offended by words, they need to just develop a tougher skin.

Like many, I have always found it amazing that black people are so offended by the "N" word, yet they continue to use this word on a daily basis. I never used the word in my home, but yet my children were exposed to the word at school by those who proclaim it as being offensive. I use whatever language that I want to use because I am given that right by the Constitution. I will say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays...and Santa Claus should still say "HO, HO, HO"....and the people who take this offensively should have their head examined. If the words "ho,ho,ho" has taken on any different meaning - thank the same people who continue to use the "N" word in their musical expression.

Was it ever really sane? The phrase alone is a farce. "Politically Correct", how many things in politics is correct. It might be correct today but tomorrow it might change into something totally different. It's also one sided. There are too many things that someone can SAY or do that others can not. Sense when it that politically correct?

Yes and a spade is a spade a fairy is a fairy and censoring ones language only allows people to hide what they truly feel .

We once Identified racists by the language they used and now I wonder if the words" them ", "those people" , and other terms have replaced actual language which once allowed others to see the real you .

Its hard to detect if some one says African American with the tone that makes it as demeaning as saying the "N" word .

The fact the I can not use this word publicly without being charged with a hate crime is sad .

When we let words convict people of crimes then something has gone wrong with freedom .

i attempted to fee a pair of solutions here however the equipment seems to be failing slightly. Mojo, I agree - how lots of our warning signs are easily written, they're particularly merely symbols which artwork as properly in Russia, China or Japan (or everywhere else for that depend). No get right of entry to would not would desire to be written, an emblem is sparkling adequate and an analogous one is used throughout the international. the sole warning signs that are often written are directional - and so if somebody finally leads to Chippenham, Wiltshire, quite than Chippenham, Cambridgeshire, I doubt if all people rather concerns. the single element that i visit declare is that between the main suitable written street warning signs I even have ever seen replaced into in Australia. in case you seem down the 'out' lanes of a twin carriage way (which might recommend that in case you have been utilising down them you would be going the incorrect way), there are warning signs saying 'turn decrease back!' If I observed an illustration like that, in spite of if it have been written in eastern, i'm advantageous that it would make me think of approximately which component of the line I would desire to be utilising on! I doubt if the newspaper checklist replaced into maximum appropriate. they're going to do something to sell their stuff!

I think viewing things in black and white, without the shades of grey, is madness. Of course it's a good thing to say Jew instead of Kike or ex-offender instead of jail bird. But you're still free to use the rude words in private speech. If one chooses to use words like Dago, Chink, $pic, f@ggot, redneck, and so on, it's merely rude, not illegal.

I've had Spanish speaking people reproach me for guessing wrong as to whether their personally prefered designation is Latino or Hispanic; I generally thank them for correcting and while we're on the subject please be sure not to call me Anglo -- I'm of Irish decent we aren't Anglo at all, and further are histroically enemies of the Anglos/English.

When I was a tiny child "colored lady" was the polite way to refer to an adult female of African decent. Then it changed to "Negro lady" and finally settled on "Black woman" for many, many years. I think I may be too old to learn the tongue tripping "African-American" designation. Besides, I don't understand the term. What do I call the ethnicity of my (Black) neighbors from Jamaica who are here on a temporary work visa? Is a White from South Africa who becomes and American citizen then an African-American? And besides, when do I get MY hyphen and hear people who look like me refered to as "European-Americans"?

I think that some people say and write ridiculous things and call it "PC" in a deliberate attempt to discredit the whole thing, even the good parts like not calling people by racial slurs. And if people read the "Santa Can't Say HoHoHo" story -- instead of just the headline and first paragraph -- they'd have learned that the actual information was that this was A HOAX, that Santa had NEVER actually been forbidden to HoHoHo at all. I guess phoney "Merry Christmas War" stories sell papers to fools, or papers wouldn't print them, but deplore this sort of irresponsible and unethical "journalism".

English Brit: For hundreds of years the words "gay" and "sporting" have refered to the "underground world" of those who didn't fit into mainstream society such as prostitutes and homosexuals. The double meaning of the word is of long standing and not a recent innovation at all. The only thing that has changed is that homosexual men are now less fearful of openly admitting that they lead a "gay" life. You seem to have quite a problem with that. To misquote a popular slogan "They're here and they're queer and you can either get over it or die hateful."

It is stupid and restricts any form of discussion. I am tired of people who are worried, distressed by an opinion I have expressed which is not a politically correct one. I promise I will do my best not to be politically correct even if that is truly my opinion I will try to express it in a politically incorrect manner

I agree with you 100%. The "Ha Ha Ha" instead of "Ho Ho Ho" bit by Santa's now. Why would a child even know the definition of "ho".
A Christmas tree is a Christmas tree, nothing else. Why our Christian Holidays being questioned and picked apart? To the people who have a problem against the Word Christmas, Jesus, and God...you want to complain but you have no problem taking the time off work and school?
People. I do discriminate against people, I hate idiots, stupid and ignorant people. I don't care if you are white, black or yellow. However, if I call anyone stupid or ignorant, and they are not the same color as me...I'm suddenly a racist. Since I say Hillary won't get elected President, I'm suddenly a sexist.

Get real people.

We have certainly gone to far and it is ridiculous that we should be wary about anything we say or do. The recognition of gay people's rights is certainly a point to be concerned about. I accept that we should all show proper regard for the views of our fellow citizens and it should be a moral responsibility to accept people for what they are. If people are good then they should be congratulated but if they are bad then they should receive the appropriate reprimand.
