I will be working away and the lap top just shuts down or freezes up. A blue screen appears and I can't do anything but restart it. Anyone know why??

Sometimes I get a blue screen sometimes I get a blck screen with what almost looks like a upc symbol on it. I don't get anykind of message error or anything like that. I don't know what the cause is.

If you get the blue screen of death, it's probably the operating system being corrupt.

I'd start by repairing your operating system (Windows Xp or whatever you use)

If that doesn't work, I'd reformat your hard drive and reinstall everything

Try this...right click My Computer, then Properties, click on the Advanced Tab, then find Start-up & Recovery, click on Settings, then under System Failure un-click Automatically Restart. Give it a go, might work, might not.

"A blue screen appears" - tell us more. Does your laptop feel really hot above the keyboard? This is really important.

Ask yourself the following questions.
What OS am I running?
Does the bottom of the laptop feel warm?
Did I use the web lately?
Did I recently install some new software?
