And here we have the real reason for the low approval rating of congress.

Republicans hate them because they have a "D" after their name, and Democrats are angry because they're voting like Republicans.

Who says we NEED a USA Patriot Act???? After all the current administration has chosen pretty much to ignore the rule of law. This does not absolve other dumpublican or repugnocrat lawmakers. And don't expect any change soon, regardless of who is in power.

Who committed the first treasonous act after the planes flew into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon??

It was Donald Rumsfeld. He was second in command (as Secretary of Defense) under Dubya to order military aircraft to intercept any further terrorist flights. It was NOT Dick Cheney. But Dubya was hiding in a plane somewhere and Rummy was grandstanding outside the Pentagon. He had left his assigned position and was not available to any Central Command for 15 - 20 minutes. In the military that is called AWOL. Cheney says he ordered planes into the air, but the Air Force didn't do anything because Cheney was not in the line of command.

Here is a fact on the patriot act. After it was debated and agreed on in the late hours the whitehouse changed the act. This is the first time a act was changed on the 12th hour. When everyone got together the next morning the whitehouse called for a immediate vote on the act. Since it was over a 1000 pages long they did not have time to reread the act. They were told just afew things were changed. They wewre lied to by the whitehouse.
Another fact of truth brought to you by the informed.

I think most liberals realize this... However, what was one to do? The neocons were banging their chest so much scaring-up Americans and getting them yelling wooo haaa about going and killing a bunch of 'rag heads'. I think the Bush administration could have put anything through. Though I may not like it, it was the practical thing to do considering the political environment at the time.

Yep...I don't pretend like Democrats haven't made mistakes...just consider them the lesser of two evils. They should not have voted for it, but that doesn't mean I am going to support the people that created it.

The patriot act is criminal . It violates our constitution on so many levels its not funny .
There needs to be a repeal of the entire patriot act .
Why not just put troops in the streets here and begin locking people in camps .

No, the people I voted for didn't but some spineless morons from the democratic party did--and they should be voted out of office.

I didn't vote them into office.

As a liberal, I find it necessary to be skeptical and disapproving of most people who make it their careers to be voted into office. Such a stance has led me to choose not to vote for either political party on several occasions.

Maybe you should specify the liberals that vote for Democrats.

I am a Democrat not a liberal. I have no problem with the patriot act. Good for them.
