Wow, $20, I got my younger brother to do it on a dare when we were kids. I've eaten a share of my own falling off horses and dirt bikes. And in the spring the warm soil can smell good enough to eat out of a bowl with cream and sugar. Some pregnant women crave it, probably for the minerals. In small amounts your immune system should be able to handle it, in larger amounts, your digestive tract could plug and that would be bad. RScott

Dear Toyatime, Eating dirt is not harmful. It actually has a very healthy chemical believe it or not. People should eat dirt about 5 times a week. The chemical inside of the dirt is called, "manoceen43.6." This is man made from the people who make dirt. They do this just in case people eat dirt. Statistics say that eating dirt about 5 times a week can make you stronger and smarter too. Having cravings for dirt is very regular and most people have it, which is a good thing. Sincerely, Dr. Psyfolio Ph.D University of Health and Environment

It's not worth the chance that there may be something harmful in the soil. You have no way of knowing what kinds of chemicals, pesticides, bacteria or whatever may have been dumped in the soil you may be eating. Not a good idea. If you need $20 then go rake some leaves for an elderly person who could use your help. Not only would it be healthier for you than eating dirt, but you would have an opportunity to feel really good about yourself.

mercury poisoning is possible, also microbes exist in certain soils that can make you very sick. do you really need twenty dollars that much, or do you feel "WIMPY" if you turn down a dare.
