Topics of yourself and/or family will almost always get you an A if it is written with no grammar mistakes. It is something that teachers/instructors always like to read. It is close to the holidays, so use those as inspiration. For example, when I was a young , I had a paper similar, but it had to be at least two pages. I used a family tradition during christmas. We give gifts that represent the 12 days of Christmas, and I explained how we did this and the details of it. It is always good to use family in a paper bc you know about it and do not have to do research, and it comes easy. I came out of that English class with a 99 A.

1. Take a look around you, what do you see? If you are in your bedroom, you see a doll, or an action figure, or an old chest. Well write about about! (Let's use the doll as an example) Dolls (Porcelain, not Barbie) have been a huge hit with young girls in the 1700's,1800's even 1900's. Tell us about the history of that doll through the doll's point of view, through his/her eyes. When it is made or is taken out of the box, what happens? Is the owner mean and throws the doll around? Does it wind up in the garbage? 2. Put yourself in a story that you like and act it out (In your own words) As your character would. Let's say (Bad example, but it's easy) Twilight. (I am a female, so I will be a female vampire in the book) Now since I don't want to rewrite the whole book, I'll just say: Liz the vampire is mysteriously turned in a dark alley. She wakes up and is hungry, and since she does not want to eat humans, she decides to drink her neighbors dog. She also cannot stand very still because she has ADHD.... etc etc. So you see you can put yourself into a story be it Lord of the Rings, or Pet Cemetery, or Gone With The Wind and make it an entirely new story! 3. Write about the world around you. Write about the starving kids in Africa and put yourself into their place. How would you fend for you and you eight brothers and sisters? What if you were a soldier in Iraq? Would you die? What would you see? 4. You read books, you watch movies, and listen to music. How would you react if your music was taken away by evil mom-cyborg? And she took it away into her space ship where everything was a trap and you had to run, dodge, and hide from the robots that were trying to kill you. What if it was a race against time that led you to making the biggest decision of your life: Saving all of humanity and restoring everyone music and killing your family and the people you love, or Saving just the people you love and not restoring your music? Use your imagination! Even if you are horrible a writing a story, it's not rocket science to find a good subject! Good Luck.

Every night you come home with a bottle of whiskey and proceed to drink the whole goddam bottle. You always pass out on the sofa, fully clothed, with all the lights on. One night you're woken by a loud explosion and when you finally come to your senses, you realise that the lights are out and the apartment is flooded. So you're staggering around in the dark, ankle deep in water and all the other crap that's on the floor because you're not really any good at keeping the place clean. But you want to know where the water came from so you light a candle or something and go investigate. It appears to be coming in from under the front door so you open it and even more water washes in, accompanied by all the garbage that's out in the hall. This is where you can use your imagination. Try to think of the worst things you would want to see on the floor. Used condoms, syringes, bloody tampax and toilet paper. That kind of thing. You notice that the water is coming from upstairs, in fact the staircase has become a waterfall. So you try to climb up, but it's so slippery, and you're still rather intoxicated, so you fall down a lot. Eventually you make it upstairs and you notice the water is coming from under the door of the apartment directly above yours. You knock on the door but there's no answer, so you kick the door in and and get covered in more garbage and crap that washes out of there. At this point you could make a comment about how nobody in your building knows how to keep the place clean. You will also need to re-light the candle, probably. To cut a long story short, you go into the bathroom. The bathtub is overflowing and there's a body in the water.

write a story in stream-of-consciousness. it throws people off .. basically introduce a character then go all Holden Caufield on their asses, like, "When I'm at school in the hallway I get so blown away by the crazy s hit that people get away with wearing these days. Reds and purples and greens and bright aqua, orangy-brown .. reminds me of a rainbow. And I don't like rainbows because this one time I was out with Uncle Leonard and we were ......"

blah blah blah

Thing is, you can make the character mad eccentric or completely normal, but just taking his or her thoughts and putting them out there, it actualizes what occurs in our minds on a daily basis.

Just something to think about.

How about one concerning an airline passenger who gets pulled aside by TSA for a spot check but is suffering from Tourette's Syndrome and can not deal very well with those authorities? I don't think I ever saw one with that story line.
