Hi and my adds here: I was posting this while visiting in style and beauty - my mistake sorry folks this went to a different location I intended. But thanks for your answers, I'm glad to hear them. The lady has tech and artistic education.

My first reaction was to look like she is still in touch with the world, but not trying to be a teenager and is not limited to being a hausfrau
So what does that mean? Well today's workplace is more casual than 10 years ago, so even though a suit/dress is always appropriate for professional jobs, maybe rethink the lines. Look for modern shoes and handbag; but choose something which she feels she looks good in to boost her confidence.
A fresh hairstyle - neat, clean; make sure she doesn't have stripes from previous coloring if she is going gray naturally.
Groomed nails; a basic sport length in neutral colors or French/American or pink/white is good.
Makeup is a personal choice; many women I work with on a daily basis dont wear makeup much anymore but often will on interviews
Also watch the use of perfume which is much less accepted than previously
Finally, if she hasnt had a cell phone while at home, she may want to invest in a prepaid - many people assume everyone has a cell.
Good luck, let us know how the search goes

I'd suggest dressing similar to the way people at that company with the position you want are dressed. If you over do it you may have as much of a problem as if underdress. There is a difference between a secratary at a law firm vs a cashieer at McDonalds.

Well she should get a job doing something easy like for a flower shop or something slow. She can dress for the part by just playing the cute "little old lady" role. If it's a tougher job, I recomend her trying to Young-a-tize! it a little and look younger ( dying hair, trendy clothes, etc.)

Truth full she should just dress Business & Stylish it can be done & she should not have a problem. The only thing is they do discriminate on the age factor in a lot of way they just don't say it.

companies aren't allowed to discriminate against anyone due to their age or "look." if she is unsure, i would recommend getting in touch with an employment agency. they will find out what skills she has and put her in touch with perspective employers. there are also temporary job services which place you somewhere until the job is done and then they find you another one...until you find a place that can hire you on full time.
