When choosing a monitor check for the contrast ratio to get the best quality. The higher the contrast ratio the less fuzzy the image and the better on the eyes. This does not mean you can stare at it for hours and not have any effect. Just less of one.

Most LCD monitors fall in the 700 to 1 range.

A really good monitor comes in at 1000 to 1

But I have already seen a monitor with a 2000 to 1 rating. It had a fantastic image and a $450 price to match

uh huh..where did you get that information? Using any monitor will never protect your eyes. The less you stare at a monitor, the less damage your eyes will get.

No.

But that is because no monitor causes damage to your eyes.

Staring at a monitor all day can cause eye strain, but that is totally different and is independent of the monitor.

It's marketing B***. It'll be no better than most other monitors.

Unless you're talking shrapnel and it comes with a pair of heavy duty protective spectacles.
