What Features should I look for ?

I think this time I DEFENETLY want automatic threading since I had a previous issues with my previous sewing machine (SINGER MODEL 1725 ) Where the bobbin was on the side of the machine and it was upright .I'd also like something affordable not outrageous.

I'd like to sew with denim .

I'd like to make shirts and shorts

I'm going to fashion design school so i'd need something durable

Some of the issues I had with my other machine were
Threading it was very difficult for me to thread my machine .
I also had bobbin issues I was told by a person on this site that I needed to melt it with fire because it was very lose. That is what she had to do to make hers work I just don't want to do that .

Walmart has one for $179.97 It's a Singer 7422 it has a automatic needle threader but you would have to check further to see if it does denium.. I am not sure where the bobbin was. I have no idea what you had to melt but if you have any problems with it you can call the company or get on here for answers. Contact me if I can help any further

If you want something affordable and durable, I would not buy any of the machines that you find at discount stores. I would go to a sewing machine repair shop and buy a good, used machine like a Bernina. I have one that I bought that way and 30 years later, we are still together. My daughter just graduated from design school and she wanted one just like it, so we scouted one out for her. They will not give you trouble, they will sew ANYTHING (and I mean anything) and you will probably never have to replace it, if it's not a computerized one. Computers get cranky, so I would look for one that is the model before that (and they tend to be cheaper, too.) If you buy new at Walmart, the machines are largely plastic and will not hold up.

My local WalMart carries Singer and Brother. I bought a Brother a couple of years ago on sale for $114 and it does 70 stitches. It has an auto needle threader (it takes a few tries to figure out how it works - once you figure it out, you can't do without it) and buttonholer. It will sew denim. When you sew denim or any heavy material you just need to use a larger "tougher" needle. Since xmas is upon us, check out WalMart's on-line only specials. I've never used a Singer, but hear very good things about them.

If you're going to fashion design school, you need a machine that will hold up to sewing on all types of fabrics. A Wal-mart machine isn't going to be adequate for your needs.
The Pfaff dual feed system would be very good for the types of sewing you are wanting to do. Look up your local dealer and ask about one of these models:
ClassicStyle 2023
Classic Style 1523
Smart 200c (doesn't have dual feed, but a great machine for the price)

Honey as long because it has your user-friendly stitch types you would be superb. verify you employ reliable high quality thread. in no way the cheap stuff It frays and breaks and your challenge won't final very long in the tip. constantly use a clean New sharp needle while beginning each and each new challenge. Use the main appropriate needle for the challenge you're making plans. i take advantage of an prolonged skinny paint brush for safeguarding the lint out of my bobbin case. I oil my device another day after cleansing of course. maximum sewing machines rigidity is desperate to 4 or 5,it extremely is a few widespread placing, except your unfastened action quilting. then you definately administration the rigidity & stitch length. i'm hoping this permits. make advantageous It has an computerized bobbin winder and the finest attachments for buttonholes. you could in specific cases p.c.. them up there reflects @ wal-mart for slightly of not something. reliable success & happy sewing
