How would a retired computer analyst do in graduate school? Would a 61 year old with conservative attitudes have a fair chance of being successful?

as long as you've got the money to do it, you should be ok

It's never too late! Don't ever discount the value of experience. I teach graduate classes and some of my best students have been older people changing careers or advancing their career. They add so much to class discussion. They help relate theory to practice.
