I would guess (a). Before this, the 'closure laws' restricted farming methods. Once these were eliminated, farming could occur on a larger scale. More was produced and allowed some to leave the agrarian existence. Time could be spent on developing tools so still more could be produced. Plows, harrows and other farming implements were developed.

I choose this answer through elimination of the others.
Jethro Tull was an innovator of agriculture in the early 18th century.
All kinds of new crops were exchanged between the new and old world.
The open field system was in use through out much of the middle ages.
