I assume you mean financial comfort in Asia, but I'd find it pretty lonely to locate to a place with such different customs and language. Visit there? Sure. Live there? No, money is only part of the equation.

I don't think most of Asia is so good but places like Malta would be better. The plusses would be they all speak English, they like the British, they drive on the correct side of the road, they are clean and friendly, they have good health care and respect their elders. As far as retiring here goes, would you really want to stay in a country that seems to be run by accountants intent on bumping off the old and sick. Would you really want to be ill in an NHS hospital at the moment? My parents are in their eighties and although my father has a good pension, this government tries its best to put them on a poverty level. Get out while you still have some money left!!!

Don't sell your house. Rent it out as a source of income. Places like Malaysia and Thailand are relatively cheap to live in. If you are prepared to live out of city center, you could buy a really good house for about £20k and above. That way, there's always a way back if you cant adapt. I've already got a place there and loving it. Pound is strong at the moment, you don't need much to live like a king!
