I was reading this book and it said this in it:
"...but his eyes would not stay open. He suspected she dosed his nourishing drinks with mother's comfort."

I know what it all means but what is mother's comfort?

I feel that the author has meant gin only. It being colorless ,it can safely be mixed in any liquid drinks.

Gin is usually referred to as `mothers ruin`.....I`ve never heard of `mothers comfort`.
