I need one that will hold some Office documents as well as some Power Point Presentations.

Which one (MB) do I go with? Any good brands out there that won't cost me a fortune?

If you live in the US (or maybe parts of EU), you may receive a USB key for free if you go to the trade-fairs.

If buying, buy from a good brand and don't fall for the fakes that promise revolutionary storage. A friend of mine picked up 8GB USB Keys from China about a year back. He didn't know that 8GB keys didn't exist back then and Sony doesn't make USB keys even now.

To store a few files, you will need something more than 256MB. I have one and I am yet to fill it up. Slightly bigger is better. Stick to Sandisk / Kingston / Memorex etc. for a USB key brand. I also have a Sandisk 1GB that I use to transport images and audio files.

Guess it depends a lot on preference. I have a 512 MB SanDisk for quick stuff I do often and delete. It have the U3, but, I removed that and use only as a Jump Drive.
The other day I bought a 2 GB (Also with U3 and I keep it). This one is a Best Buy Geek Squad and was $20. It works for me.

I use a 2 GB for graduate school and it provides enough storage for all of my Powerpoint presentations and Word documents, which take up a lot of space. I use a SanDisk Cruzer, which I got for about $25 after rebates.

In determining what size you need, I'd suggest putting several of your files in a folder and noting the size of the folder--then, I'd get a USB key that is slightly larger.

Kingston make the best chips. They are major producers of RAM memory. I forgot mine in my pocket and it went to the laundry. It still works fine. Regarding Size, the bigger the better.

Some run for $30 (depending were you live).
Seeing as your situation isn't around 5mb a file, then may I suggest a 2gb?
