Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1) Jesus Christ
2) The American Soldier.

One died for our soul, the other for our freedom.

Did my Father tell me right, or did he tell me wrong?

Christ gave His life willingly, but also did not the American soldier who joined the military? Didn't he or she know what the sacrifice might be? To say a man or woman who joined our military of their own free-will didn't know the change of consequence, is the same as calling them stupid. American soldiers are NOT stupid. They risk more for your salvation than many a human deserves.

He was definitely correct. If there were no American soldiers, there'd be no free europe, south korea would be communist, and (to a lesser extent by simple threat) the soviet union would still be alive and well. There are hundreds of other examples of where US Soldiers put their lives on the line for people other than Americans, but a lot of non-americans conveniently forget that.

Freedom is great. Thank God and a Soldier for giving it to you.

Yes, he was right.

So imagine how disappointed he'd be to see what a chickenhawk you turned out to be.

Why not try and make the old man proud and enlist, so you can go fight for what you claim to believe in?

I do agree but it is not that simple. If your inferring that one in Iraq is fighting for our freedom than you are dead wrong. The soldiers in Iraq are fighting and dying because of the greed and the ego of George W. Bush. The American soldier is not the only one who has died for our freedoms. I believe there should be a little modification to your statement that would be "Only two defining fources have evered offered to die for you Jesus Christ, and those who have given their lives, both civilian and military for you. Those would include firefighters, police officers, possibley paramedics, military personnel in all branches of the militiary of this and other countries. If you don't think that the Brits had nothing to do with securing your freedom in WWII you are dead wrong. We helped them and they helped us. To arrogantly claim only American soldiers died for your freedom is too simplistic and simply not true.

Whether in a valid war or invalid war our military men and women should be appreciated for whatever sacrifice they make. We should be thankful for all those public and private who work to make our lives better and safer. Heroes come in all shapes, sizes, geners and ages.

Your father told you right. All you Bush haters are sick individuals. Your freedom and our nations interests go hand in hand. I'm sure not too many who have such views are willing to stand up and fight for their country, regardless of the adversary. (Unless you count the brave souls who are willing to risk their lives driving themselves to work)

Wasn't aware that the US had been invaded and our freedom in jeopardy. I fully appreciate the job the American soldiers volunteered for and are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are to be thanked mightily for their efforts but to somehow justify this war as a fight for the freedom of Americans is far fetched. I know many veterans, have several in my own family, and they would be the first ones to tell you that war should always be the last resort and all the time war is a necessary evil. War is not glamorous.

American soldiers getting killed and wounded in Iraq are not getting killed and wounded so I can be free here in the good ol' USA. They are getting killed and wounded for one reason, and one reason only: GEORGE W BUSH. What all this comes down to is that George Bush should never have become our President. He is not just a bad President but the worst one we could have had, the worst our country has ever seen. This is a judgment that many Americans have come to but which our political establishment and media, even after 6 years, have yet to acknowledge, accept, and act on. This is the tragedy and crime of our times.

He certainly wasn't wrong but, Jesus Christ gave his life willingly.
