I think they should play out the whole quarter

It should be slightly changed. I used to be all for the college aspect of the game but recently have decided that a nice mix of the two would be perfect.

I think each team should get a minimum of 1 possession and then it goes to sudden death style. This allows both teams to use their offense and defense and possibly special teams. I mean with the current set-up the coin flip does have a large determination on the outcome. 1 bad play by a db, one slip or fall can decide the whole game. Look at the Packer-Bronco game from earlier, 1 play into it and it's over (being a Packer fan I won't complain but it sucks for the opposing offense to not even get a chance). They should have given the Broncos a possession to get a td to tie it and then it goes to the 1st team to score.

College rules leave a lot up to the coin toss as well. The team that defends 1st is at a huge advantage because they now know if they have to go for it on 4th and 1 or kick a field goal or whatever the case may be.

There's no completely fair way to do overtime in a sport like this. Sudden death can leave a team without a chance to play offense... alternating back and forth can screw a team over like it did Oklahoma last year against Boise State... playing the whole quarter leads to injuries and chances are 1 team is still going to get more possessions. Thats why I like minimum of 1 possession and then sudden death.

I really think the NFL Overtime is far superior to college. With college overtime you take special teams and field position (2 very important aspects of the game) out. Its just too different than what the game is supposed to be played like.

Yes there is the chance you won't see the ball in overtime and still lose, but the set-up really is pretty fair considering if you look at the historical trends as it is pretty close to 50-50 on whether the team that wins the coin toss wins the game. Its not like if you win the coin toss your going to win the game for sure as your still going to have to drive 40-50 yards to get into long field goal range in most cases. On the other hand if you play good defense and force a 3 and out you will likely be starting on the 35 or 40 yard line.

The NFL overtime keeps important things like your punting and return games involved and is gives both teams a fair shot at still winning the game.

Absolutely not. The OT rules in the NFL are perfect. Football is about all 3 parts of the game, offense, defense, and special teams. The college OT rules are boring and only award offensive football. I see so many people incorrectly say that whoever wins the toss in OT in the NFL wins the game. Statistically that isn't true. The team winning the coin toss in OT wins about 57% of the time.

This subject has been debated to death. I like the way college does it but it scews stats to no end. If they opted to use the college rule and threw out the stats, I think I would like it.

Playing an entire quarter is also a good idea or perhaps half a quarter (7.5 minutes). I would also want a full 3 time outs for each time with this scenerio.

They should be changed to the same regulations of college football

Start at the 25 i think
Have to go for a 2 point conversion in 3rd ot
Not sudden death

It makes the games way better to watch

they should be changed, but they shouldnt play the whole quarter. too many chances for injury and it would take too long. they should go to a college style overtime where each team gets the same amount of possessions. they were even for 60 minutes, they should be given equal chances in overtime.

I think so, this is the one area that college football dominates over the NFL. College OT is awesome to watch, the NFL not so much.

YES YES YES and YES.
They should be changed to some variation of the college rules - except both team's offenses should be running simultaneously at either end of the field (Just kidding).
