"Don't Tase Me ,Bro'!".....seems to be the quote of the month and now you can buy the T-shirts and other gear with this notable capture on it.

So the media is spending more time covering who is getting tased, especially those who die as a result (and I don't think such deaths are wide-spread or common but they've occurred). Are we going to declare tasers cruel and unusual punishment, i.e. unconstitutional?

I've never been tased but those who have typically comment on how very much it hurts. If you've been tased, I'd appreciate hearing your view on this. If you are a member of the police or a part of a security group that uses tasers, I'd appreciate hearing from you too.

I don't have a particular opinion on this but it reminds me of an old Sci-Fi movie where the ruling class had these thick metal electronic club devices that could be set to varying levels of pain or pleasure. They were used to keep a group of people in slavery until there was a huge uprising and revolution.

As a law enforcement officer, I think Tasers are a wonderful tool. The problem seems to be that people label them as non-lethal weapons. They are actually "less lethal" weapons. Since Tasers have been deployed, officer injuries have dropped significantly. Now we don't have to fight and wrestle with suspects. It has also saved a lot more lives of suspects than it has killed. Before Taser deployment on the streets, many of the suspects who have been tased, would have been shot instead. The only deaths, even though tragic, have been from drugs in the system, or a bad pre-existing medical problem. Officers don't have the luxury of conducting a pre-tasing medical evaluation on the suspect that is way out of control. Sure it looks brutal to watch. I have been tased 3 times for training, and it still looks brutal to me every time I see it. I would still rather be tased than sprayed with pepper spray. Pepper takes on average 45 minutes to an hour before the pain and discomfort go away enough to see again, with a taser, once the 5 seconds are over, it's like it never happened. So in the past when I have used pepper spray, I would have to stand over the very irate suspect with a hose, washing his face off before I could book him. Plus, pepper spray does not distinguish between good guys and bad guys. Usually everybody in the area gets some effects of the spray, taking some good guys out of action. and one last thought. yes tasing looks brutal, but it's no comparison to somebody turning on a video camera half way through an incident that the suspect elevated into a fight, and you get to view what looks like 5 officers beating somebody, or the media edits the video so thats all you see. Remember Rodney King. For the few who have actually seen the entire video, knows he was not complying, and fighting / resisting, but all you saw was the beating. So I would have to say tasing looks less brutal.

Unfortunately, todays society make Tasers necessary. More and more people are fighting with the police, for different reasons, such as drug abuse. Someone on P C P will fight anyone and everyone, so rather than get several people hurt because a druggie goes after them, use the taser and stop the fight. another criminal may have a weapon, so instead of killing him, just taser him. If people know that if they commit a crime, they may get tased, they may not commit the crime.

Tasers are less than lethal weapons. I believe that getting shot with a taser is better than getting shot with a police issue 9 mm or whatever they use. Sure it might hurt like hell and some people might die from complications of being tased , but I for one am glad that officers have a safer alternative than just shooting somebody when they feel that their life is in danger.

My husband and that i've got the two been homeless or with a house yet too undesirable to purchase lots nutrition (inspite of foodstamps) and we went to the nutrition banks for 'donated nutrition' ... maximum OF IT replaced into not good nutrition ... human beings provide 'previous' cans they could throw away, broken (smashed) pasta, mixed dried beans that desire different quantities of soaking and cooking time ... even vegetables they don't desire to consume because of fact they are wilted and dried out. when I provide to a foodbank (which we do many times) i bypass to the keep and purchase NEW fundamentals ... packing containers of pasta (the superb they have, too), NEW cans of nutrition, sparkling flour, sparkling vegetables, canned meat and canned juices, infant nutrition in all types ... then I take it and drop it off with a 'i'm hoping this helps' and a huge smile ... if I dangle around, I tell the folk that we as quickly as have been the place they are, and we've money now, so we are only 'paying decrease back' what we've been given ... and folk delay their heads and think of that they are merely 'down for awhile' as a exchange of being 'down constantly' ... that is not egocentric to feed a human being who desires nutrition ... an previous human being, a employee, a mom, a father, a infant ... human beings need to bypass to mattress FEELING comprehensive AND understanding they're going to GET comprehensive day after at present, WEEK, MONTH, twelve months. Donate good nutrition (regardless of if it ability you're able to consume somewhat much less for an afternoon or 2 a month) and the worldwide would be a greater valuable place for all and sundry!

I think we should outlaw TASERS. The only 2 humans, both women, who said anything about them, were violent. I realized they were wanting to hurt me, and were showing off. I didn't know if tasers were really real, or just science fiction. I wondered where they were planning on getting a taser.

The problem with taser is that people know it wouldn't kill, and so cops begin to abuse it. With a firearm, they are more resposible with it because they have alot to answer to if the killed someone with it.

But with taser, they simply go gung ho because the thought people wouldn't die. They just whip it out and fire without a warning.

taser is not a bad thing, but its the cops that uses them. Taser is being abuse by these people.

Like anything else, you only hear the horror stories..how many deserving people are tased, and nothing happens...if you are being an ***, expect to be tased...it's less harmless than a bullet....no???

interesting thought, but i dont think that we will, i mean, if they are cruel and unusual, would you rather the police jsut shot them in the head (with a regular, gunpowder/bullet handgun)? no pain at all
