French strikes?

I've never really been a big fan of the French,but you've gotta hand it to them.If their government gets on top,it's one out all out.They don't take the crap we do in Britain.What do you reckon?

It shows how weak their governments are. They always back down, so everybody knows it's always worth striking because you'll get what you want.

Everyone slags off the French, but I think they are OK. My parents live in a rural area of France and the people there have been lovely, they bend over backwards to help you out. They are warm and welcoming. I just thought I would say this seeing as the other posts have been disrespectful, and I wanted to defend our European neigbours.

Also I would like to make the point that if I came on here and slagged off the Americans I'm sure I would get a few angry replies - why should ppl get away with it just because its the French?

And to Cod Head - Maybe they are right not to take crap from their government and we could learn a few things from them.

Living in Paris at the moment and it's a pain. The transport unions have the country by the balls. They have better working conditions than any other group in France.They are protesting at the moment because all transport staff at the moment have the right to retire on full final pay pension at 55 years old and the government want to higher it to be like all other public sector workers. It's a joke, the only reason they have this is because they have the power to cripple the country with their strikes.
Look at what happened with their Olympic bit, they shot themselves in the foot because they wanted something which the government didnt want to give so they went on strike the day the Olympic committee were touring Paris.
dont be in awe of the French unions and their capacity for greed!
