Keith Urban, Rascall Flatts, Taylor Swift, Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy, and many others like them like to call themselves country singers. Does anyone else but me think that is stupid? All good singers and song writers, but call a spade a spade,
Keith Urban - pretty boy pop singer
Rascall Flatts - middle aged boy band
Taylor Swift - rock and a little annoying
Big and Rich - horrible singers and rock/pop
Cowboy Troy - Rap, hick hop doesnt exists

Go to MTV where you belong and leave the country music to country singers

MTV.......LOL......a channel that doesn't play music anymore! The people (fans) who know music (not you evidentally) know that these artists are country. Even though they may have a different sound that's not defined as "twangy country sound" or that they don't sing about divorce, losing their pickup trucks, and their dogs dying anymore. The type of music that you evidentally think defines the genre. A lot of artists try to cross over and succeed at doing so, and evidentally these one's are successful at it. If you don't like it switch the station. I'm sure you'll find some of the good ole boy music that your used to.

I agree with it all, Keith Urban-a little fruity in my opinion, i think the whole marriage to nicole kidman is a coverup, oh and i don't think he's country. Rascal Flatts are N sync backstreet boys 10 years from now, oh and i dont think they're country. Taylor Swiiiffftt, sorry i just threw up in my mouth a little. Big and Rich, not country, Cowboy Troy can't do country rap or anything else in my opinion. But guess what, they're making country radio/nashville alot of $$$$ and that's all that corporate country cares about!! booo, to that I say.

I think the singers you listed - planted their public image as a country singer from the beginning of their careers. Because, well, they were considered country. But then later drifted a little bit away from country - not entirely though.

But I also thought of Shania Twain. She is known as one of the top selling female country artists, because she started out as one. But her last album "Up!" had a Country version and Pop version. She did it though - because she has garnered so many fans that some may enjoy her Pop songs better.

So if it sounds like those artists are straying away from original country - it may be because they have gained a lot of fame and they are experimenting. But I wouldn't shoo them to MTV, ultimately they started out as Country singers. MTV is just crappy reality TV now - with two music videos per week played at 3-4am.

I personally feel that country music is music that comes from the heart. It is about life experiences and it tells a story of what that person has been through.

PREACH ON BUNDY!!!! You hit the nail on the head. They are far from country. As those poor bastards said on one of there cds, "This is country music as its meant to be, raw, and bleeding." The yahoos in trashville do not understand country. Thank God for bands like, Those Poor Bastards, Hank Williams III, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnnies, Josh Plemon and the lonesome drifters, and Wayne the Train Hancock. Keeping real country alive and breathing!

I agree, legends like Johnny Cash, Ernest Tubb, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, etc are the true Country music singers. They are ruining good Country music , & it is a shame.

Well somebody nailled it.
Most of the "Modern Country Music" is the same "pop and soft rock" we listened to in the 70's.
the likes of the classic country singers from the 50's-60's-or 70's are gone but us real ountry fans can keep their memories alive through their music.

I grew up on country music and I would say that the country of the past is no longer the country of today. I agree that pop music has taken over. I think that these artists are trying to appeal to a younger crowd and honestly it's working b/c they are selling albums. Unfortunately, it's not the country that we define as country but country music is evolving just as everything else.

Well Praise God!!! Somebody with some sense!!! Thanks Bundy. You're hittin' on all eight today. How 'bout you come over this afternoon and I'll pour us a little Jim Beam and put some Merle Haggard, George Jones, Tammye Wynette, Vern Gosdin, Charlie Rich, etc. albums on the turn-table. We can just sit, and listen, and drink, and talk about the good old days when Country Music WAS Country Music.

I'll see you about 6'ish, okay? ^_^

you know, sometimes, opinions really dont need to be heard. You all just run your mouth for nothing. These people all work hard and do you really think they give a darn what you little ones think.
