A) Find the constant term that hsould be added to make the following expression a perfect-square trinomial: x^2-2x
(x-1)(x-1) would be the terms to be squared because of the 1 on the x^2 term and the -2 on the x
(x-1)(x-1) MULTIPLY out using FOIL to get the third term
x^2-2x + 1 therefore
+ 1 is the missing term ANSWER
B)Find the axis of symmetry: y=-x^2+4x-6
Points on the graph
(-2, -10)
(-1, -9)
(0, -6)
(1, -1)
(2, 6)
(3, 15)
C) Find the x-intercepts:y=x^2+4x
x-intercepts are the points on the graph where it crosses the x axis and y = 0 and (x,0). Set y = 0 in the equation to solve.
y = x^2 + 4x
SET y = 0 and factor the right side
0 = (x)(x+4)
x = 0
and
x + 4 = 0
x = -4
The x-intercepts are (0, 0) and (-4, 0) ANSWER

A) Find the constant term that hsould be added to make the following expression a perfect-square trinomial: x^2-2x
i can answer this quetion but the remaining is yours,
how to find the third term of your equation?
the fomula is, (coefficient of x, term / 2 )^2
solution:
coefficient of x = -2
( - 2 / 2 ) ^ 2 = (1)^2 = 1
now you have,
x^2 - 2x + 1 = (x - 1)^2

1)x^2-2x+1=(x-1)^2
2) y= -x^2+4x-6
Adding -4 on both sides
y-4=-(x^2-4x+4)-6
y+2=-(x-2)^2
This is a parabola with vertex (2,-2)
and is symmetrical about its axis which is x=2
3) Put y-0
x=0 and x=-4 are two solns.

It means to basically concentration what's in it first and then bypass from left to good to unravel it. FYI- there is an 'invisible "a million" in front of of the paranthisies. maximum instructors fail to tell that to their pupils. It helps to be responsive to that reason whilst u forget to function in negatives or positives, u basically look on the sign begore the parenthisies and multiply that through what's interior. as an occasion, in this one, look at it this way: -3+a million(6)=3. : ) sturdy success!
