I havent got alot to spend but i really need a a new pc as mine is quite knackered. I just want it for basic stuff. I've got a new phone but when i try to install the software it gives a message saying The operating system is not adequate. This is the latest in a long line of problems I've had with it. I cant even connect my digital camera to it. Ive got Win. millenium
Also is there anywhere that does interest free credit on PCs?

I dont know if its just the os cos I've been having lots of probs with this computer. I always get a mssage which says-your system is dangerously low on resources etc. And another message which says you must quit other programs before using this when I havent got any other programs open. I constantly have to restart it. Its always freezing up and I have to end task etc etc long line.

It depends how much you want to spend.

You can get them from Tesco/Tesco direct for as little as £250. Dell, Curry's, Comet & PC world have some reasonable offers and you can get them on credit, however as you can expect, there will be added interest. I was looking at them recently and it seems to be that if you take out a finance option, to be repaid in a shorter length of time, you will pay back less interest.

Another idea could be to look at taking out a credit card. Lots of them do interest free rates etc for a fixed term. Therefore you could use this to buy a PC and pay back your credit card, with 0% interest rate. You can find the best cards for purchases here:

This hard to say. Sometimes a budget computer like buying real chocolate or chocolate flavored candies (there is a big difference in quality). I have many OS but I admit "Millennium" is one I bypassed for various reasons.
I can tell you what I would do, but, it depends on what a person know about computers.
If, you wanting a Desktop, I would look around for something used with Windows XP (XP Pro if possible). With the software for the OS!!!!!
If, you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. then all you really need is the Tower. Sometimes places like "Overstock.com" sell just a Tower for less than $100 maybe $120. I ONLY say overstock as example and in no way saying this where you have to buy. You may know a friend local that can help. Where I live there people will sometimes give the old computer away when they buy a new one, but, they give to someone they know.
You can always add new LCD Monitor later when you have more money and find something on sale. Heck, I guessing in a few more years people give those away too.
Windows XP is a good OS and will be good for another 10 years if a person have everything they need before it obsolete. The main problem with longevity of an OS will be new software that no long work and new printers etc. If a person have these then the OS is OK! :-p
I have an old 486 with Windows 3.11 and DOS 5.0 it still does everything I need except it may not run new games or Microsoft Word (But, the Word Processor it have works!). I can still connect to the Internet with Dial-Up as that all there was when that computer came out.
Well, I hope this helps and remember Vista not the Best Yet, just because "Microbutt" say so.

The OS is your problem, not necessarily the hardware. Can you not install XP or one of the desktop linuxes?
