If it is a lower back ache, watch for discharge or bleeding. I do NOT want to frighten you, but it could be premature labor (really premature). If you do have a discharge, seek medical attention immediately.
If your back ache is in the mid or upper area, you can safely take 2 Tylenol regular strength. Try a hot shower or hot compresses. Do some stretching exercises and try to lie down in a comfortable position.

Make an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred to a physio. Make sure your GP is aware you are pregnant because they tend to fob off people with a back problem, but are much more sympathetic if you are pregnant.
A physio will be able to help you. I had just the same problem and saw a physio a number of times during my pregnancy. He did some manipulation and showed me some exercises to do at home and it really helped.

Back massage is the best, but if you have a lazy other half that won't do that for you, soak in a noce warm bath and do mild exercise, swimming and yoga are great for relieving pregnancy related aches and pains

I've just been through this at the same stage as you.
Hot water bottles really worked for me & when the pain spread to my lower stomach I went to the doctor & she gave me some painkillers which combined with an early night & a hot water bottle helped really well.

yes, go to ur doc, it MIGHT be contractions, whcih don't mean your baby is going to pop out, but you should take things easy.
Have your urin checked, sometimes its the kidney. can tell you stooooories !!
Other than that, take "the extra weight" of your back, go into a warm bath, do not sleep on ur back.
Else your body is just adjusting to your little wonder, take it as a blessing if you can.
Else paras, but not too many

try and get your spouse to give you a back massage best works if you are on your side or sitting with your chest towards the front of a chair. You can also take a nice relaxing warm bath it always helps me/

a couple tips. i had the same affliction when i was pregnant.
-get a pre-natal massage
-sleep with a body pillow to prop up your bump
-watch your posture, i always had the tendency to slump and bend my back when my baby started getting big
-light stretching
-if you have a desk job, get a back support for your chair......hell get one for your car. bring it everywhere with you. i even used mine at the dinner table.
if you are into herbal remedies (i'm not usually but this one was recommended to me and actually helped) go to your health food store and look for Arnica cream or gel, it is safe during pregnancy and is used to relieve discomfort and stiffness.
