Republicans don't like abortions or gays (unless they either need one or are gay..then it's ok).

Republicans want a Fundamentalist Christian Theocracy, like the Islamic Theocracy in Iran. The Democrats want a Socialist economy with Government bureaucrats in charge of everything. The biggest obstacle to either goal is the Constitution of the United States, which is why both parties want it gone and jointly supported the Patriot Act, giving government organizations the right to ignore the Constitution and Rule of Law at will.

The biggest differences are in two areas, economics and foreign policy. The Democrats believe in more government which equals higher taxes to pay for more social programs such as financial assistance and state run health care. The Democrats tend to be less aggressive in Foreign policy in recent years. They tend to believe more in working with organizations such as the UN. Republicans believe in smaller government which would lead to lower taxes. They feel that this has a more positive affect on the overall economy and creates more opportunity for people to succeed. They also tend to have a more aggressive stand on foreign policy which means they are more willing to take decisive military action if they feel it is necessary to protect the interest of the United States. In reality as compared to world politics our two parties are relatively close to each other on how they view major issues. In the recent years of the war they have been shifting further apart due largely to the negative press that the war has received and special interest groups that have been pulling the Democratic Party further to the left from where they have been in recent years.

There is no difference. Both want bigger government, more control, and more of your income to pay for services the government should not even be providing.
I find it curious how many 'conservatives' and 'liberals' can bash their political opponents without even understanding the true definitions of the phony political labels to which they attach themselves.

Republicans (like me) want smaller government, less taxes, and have more conservative values. Democrats want to raise your taxes and then use the money to have Big Brother watch over you.
