What's the history behind the Abercrombie&fitch logo?

hi, i'd like to know why the deer is selected as the brand's logo? Thanks in advance.

The moose is a throwback to the times when the company was a sporting goods store, selling hunting and camping equipment. "Common design elements of the Canoe Store's interior prototype from the 1990s to late 2006 include: a moose head mounted above the cash wrap, a canoe mounted in the main room of each canoe store,..." In the early days, before they catered to the "preppy" crowd, they prided themselves on their macho outdoors image.
