After having read through my paper,
Here is what comes to mind as a few examples.

1. Nearly impossible to buy a house
2. Getting a job is like winning the lottery.
3. People usually have a bad opinion of teenagers

I'm sure there are many more things but I'll leave them for you to decide I'm very grateful for your help, just seems that in my day you had some hope. Nowadays there seems to be nothing left for our children to fight for, or is that just me?

I'm 76 years old and wishing you all the best,
Alfred take good care now.

I was not around 50 years ago, but yes things are hard these days...

Everything revolves around money, or lack of it!!

Me and Mr Nice have decided to leave the rat race and travel round Europe. See if we can settle better somewhere else away from the Western lifestyle.

We do not drink and just want a happy life, not to work our guts out until we retire and then not have much energy left and be saying "where did our life go?"

Not us, we are taking the chance and going for it, the worst that could happen is we end up back here working again and that's what we are doing now!! ;)

No Mortgage, No Kid's, No Ties..... ;0)

well, 50 years ago it was impossible to buy a house, there was not a lottery, and teens would be working in warehouses for very little pay. the problem with today is there is just to many distractions, drinking/ drugs/ clubs etc,

and there is not enough guidance given to teenagers at a young age, so they inevitably end up in a spiralling debt, and end up working a very low paid job making it almost impossible to get a house.

Problems with today's teens:

Young pregnancies
Debt
unsure of what to do after leaving school
Drugs

they need proper guidance in order to make it.

Good question! I think each generation has had its hardships and I know that my grandma would say that bringing up three children during the blitz and WWII was harder than anything we'd face today. That said, worrying about your children taking drugs etc. and money worries at the moment with the price of houses, petrol etc. is incredibly stressful for young people and young families.

Hi Alfred, I am 51 and have to agree with you. I would hate to be young in this day and age. There seems to be no hope.
Children seem to be forced to become 'mini' adults from a very early age.
There is no magic in the world for the young today, I feel that is a great shame.

Hi, I wouldn't say much harder. The overall standard of living is better but the some points you highlight are definately a problem. House prices are a joke alright.

I would certainly say that it is. The post-WW2 golden age is definitely over.
