No such animal anymore. Those were loans from HSBC but they've discontinued them due to massive fraud losses.
You must file a return to be eligible for the refund anticipation loans and you cannot file until after the new year. Those loans have absurdly high interest rates, upwards of 2,600%. You should avoid them unless you are facing immediate eviction or can't feed your children.

H&R Block never was able to get you an Income tax refund in December for the current tax year. You may have gotten a loan against your potential refund at a very large interest rate. But you will not be able to do that this year as the banks that supported those type programs have decliened to do so anylonger.

HSBC bank, who previously funded these loans, has backed out of doing them due to people not repaying these loans. Therefore, Jackson Hewitt and Liberty Tax services aren't offering any type of "holiday loan" this year. H&R Block opened their own bank last year so they are able to offer a similar product for their clients only. You must have had H&R Block prepare your tax return in 2005 or 2006. The line of credit is for $500 and there is a charge for it. And the interest rates are not above the federal maximum. It starts around December 10th. Check your local office for details.

Yes they are, but it's a bit different from last year. Here's the details that have been made public at this time.
