You want to go into the virtual memory settings and disable any custom settings (they tend to cause more problems then they solve (considering that custom settings usually don't solve any problems that's not hard...)). Letting the OS handle virtual memory is usually the best way to do things (adding more physical RAM to your computer might also help).
Erasing files won't help you out at all (though closing programs that are running but which you aren't using might). You may also be running an application which is causing a memory leak.

Click
start, control panel, system.
choose the advanced tab and click the settings button in the performance section.
choose the advance tab here, and click the change button to show the virtual memory window.
highlight your drive in the list and click "custom size" below.
set the initial and maximum size's to 2048 or more, both figures are to be the same, then click the set button, press ok on each of the three dialogue boxes to confirm your selection, if windows suggests you restart your pc, do so now.

Increase your Virtual Memory.
Right click on my computer.
Go to 'Advanced' tab.
Under the 'Performance' Box, click settings.
In the 'Performance Options' Window click the 'Advanced' tab.
Under 'Virtual Memory' Box, click Change.
Increasing your Virtual Memory decreases your accessible Hard Disk space (eaten by Windows) by that amount, I think.
Hope this helps.

Low memory prompt means that the number of programs or activity you are running is too much for your systems memory. Solutions include increasing your RAM, reducing the number of programs you run (even the ones running underneath), waiting for your computer to execute the last action before you take another action
