A cruise ship goes from Dover around Africa and one of the stops is Dubai.
Some Cargo ships still carry passengers which will go through the Suez canal and you would get there quicker instead of going around Africa. There is a website which tells you how. Just Google cargo ship travel service and it will pop up.

Well you can try swimming but most people prefer the flying thing

well.. you can start a combination of walking, running and swimming. But i donot guarantee safety..... try to be adventurous.... use a kayak!
