I am getting a long beep and then three shorter ones on a IBM think centre any ideas on whats gone wrong?

That is usually video card error message. Inspect video card for bloated capacitors, burnt or chemical smell or burn marks on the pins. If everything looks ok, clean the pins by rubbing with eraser tip of a pencil. Reseat video card twice then lock in. If problem persists, test the video card in another PC. If card is still ok, problem could be with the graphics slot of your PC.
