The point spread is the number that the favorite team in the game could win by. For example,
Dallas -3
Atlanta +3
Dallas is favored to win the game by three points. If you were to make a bet in favor of Dallas, Dallas would have to win by more than three points for you to win. However, if you chose Atlanta, you have a better shot because they have to lose by less than three or to win the game.
